Ontem, mostrei o vestido que fiz para a pequena Papgena levar hoje para a escola.

Hoje, vou mostrar como fiz a pregadeira.

Yesterday, I show you the valentine’s dress I made for little Papgena’s school party.

Today, I’ll show you how I made her the heart-shaped brooch.

Depois de cozer as riscas umas às outras, para fazer os dois rectângulos que deram origem ao vestido, acertei-os tendo sobrado estas quatro tiras:

After I sew the stips together for making the dress, I trim the two fabric rectangles and I was left with these four smaller strips:

Recortei então um coração, em cartão, no tamanho desejado:

I then cut a heart, in cardboard, in the size I wanted:

Cozi três das tiras mas, de forma a que o branco e vermelho ficassem desfasados:

I sew three of the strips in a way the white and red were not aligned:

Colei então, com cola quente, ao coração de cartão (não tenho fotografias desse passo) e na parte de trás, colei feltro branco para ficar mais apresentável e um alfinete de pregadeira:

With hot glue, I glued the fabric to the cardboard (I don’t have pictures) and on the back I glue a piece of white felt to seal all of and a brooch pin:

Com a tira que sobrou e as aparas do tecido, que fui cortando á medida que cobria o coração, formei 3 rosetas que colei então no coração:

With the last strip and all of the fabric scraps, I made three rosettes that I glued on the top of the heart:

Vestido de S. Valentim / Valentine’s dress

A escolinha da pequena Papgena comemora sempre o dia de S. Valentim com uma festinha e um lanche por isso, mais uma vez, fiz-lhe um vestido para a ocasião (podem ver o do ano passado aqui).

Utilizei este tutorial (e um video demonstrativo aqui), uma camisola vermelha da pequena e tiras de t-shirts brancas e vermelhas (tamanho adulto):

In little Papgena’s school they allways celebrate Valentine’s day with a party so, once again, I made her a dress to the ocasion (you can see last year’s dress here).

I use this tutorial (you can see a video here), one of the little Papgena’s sweater and strips of t-shirts’ fabric in white and red (adult size):

O vestido foi muito rápido de fazer (devo ter levado 2 a 3 horas mas, com paragens pelo meio por causa do pequeno Panda). Embora, conscientemente, não tenha ‘copiado’ ninguém, olho para ele e acho que já vi este padrão em algum lado por isso, se souberem que há alguém que fez um vestido igual a este, por favor digam-me para eu lhe dar o respectivo crédito (há tantos blogs de gente talentosa que sigo que é provável que já me tenha deparado com algo parecido).

Relativamente ao tutorial, eu não deixei as costuras do lado de fora, elas estão para dentro e nas riscas brancas (não sei se consegue ver bem nas fotografias) cozi à máquina com ponto corrido e com linha vermelha a todo o comprimento da tira para lhe dar acabamento.

It was a very easy and quick dress to make (I must did it in 2 or 3 hours with pauses because of little Panda).

I didn’t copy anyone dress, at least wittingly but, I now look to him and seems familiar. So if you can spot that I ‘copy’ it from someone else please be free to say so and that way I’ll be able to give the proper credits (I visit so many talent people’s blogs that it’s possible I saw something similar…).

I did something different from the tutorial, in this dress the seams are on the inside and I topstitch the white strips with red tread to give them a finish look (I don't know if it's possible to see that in the pictures).

Como as cores também dão para o Natal, não queria pôr nada definitivo no vestido então, fiz uma pregadeira em forma de coração para individualizar a ocasião.

As I think it’ll be a good dress to Christmas too, I didn’t want to put nothing permanent on the dress so, I made a heart brooch to the ocasion:

Edward chegou! / Edward arrived

Um dos blogs que eu sigo é o ‘Bustle & Sew’.
Gosto imenso dos projectos da Helen, os seus desenhos para bordar são lindos (hei-de ter tempo para bordar os 12 motivos da ‘rosie & bear’), gosto dos bonecos que ela constrói e dos seus projectos de costura e do que nos vai mostrando do seu cantinho de Inglaterra, incluindo os seus cães! Ela tem uma loja e uma etsy shop onde vende os seus esquemas e a sua revista mensal (a única que posso assinar, de momento mas que me proporciona imensa inspiração) mas, também tem imensas coisas como ofertas e se assinarem a sua newsletter, há sempre um miminho. A Helen é uma senhora atarefada e eu, confesso, admiro não só o que ela faz mas o quanto ela faz!!
One of the blogs I follow is the 'Bustle & Sew'.
I like a lot of Helen’s projects, her embroidery’s designs are beautiful (I will have time, someday, to embroider the 12 'rosie & bear'’s motivs!), I like the stuffed animals that she makes, her sewing projects and what she show us of her little corner of England, including her dogs! She has an etsy shop and a shop where she sells hers pattens and her monthly magazine (the only one which I can subscrive, at the moment, but that gives me plenty inspiration), but also has a lot of freebies and if you join her newsletter, there is always a treat. Helen is a busy lady and I confess, not only admire what she does but how much she does!

No outro dia a Helen fez um sorteio de dois coelhos desenhados e construídos por ela (Helen é muito generosa, a cada passo faz estas surpresas): o Albert que poderia ser ganho através do Facebook e o Edward que poderia ser ganho através de comentários no blog.

Eu não tenho Facebook (não há tempo suficiente para mais socialização electrónica!!), mas deixei um comentário no seu blog!!!Como já participei em tantos sorteios e nunca ganhei nada, também não esperava que este fosse diferente. Imaginem a minha surpresa, quando recebi na sexta-feira, dia 3, um email da Helen a anunciar que eu tinha ganho o Edward! Nem queria acreditar!

E ele chegou esta sexta-feira, entregue em mão própria pelo carteiro!

The other day Helen made a giveaway of two of her little bunnies (Helen is very generous and does these kind of things often): Albert that could be gained through Facebook and Edward that could be gained through comments on her blog .
I do not have a Facebook account (I simple don’t have the time), but I left a comment on her blog! As I participated in many giveaways and never won anything, did not expect it this one will be different. Imagine my surprise when I received on Friday, February 3rd, an email from Helen that announce that I had won Edward! I couldn’t believe it!
He arrived this Friday, delivered by hand by the postman!

Esperei que a pequena Papgena chegasse da escola para abrir o embrulho, afinal ela é a coelhinha cá de casa.

E claro que adoramos o Edward! Foi rapidamente absorvido pelas brincadeiras cá de casa!

Teremos que arranjar um sistema de custódia conjunta!

I waited for little Papgena came home from school to open the package, after all she is the little bunny, here at home.
And of course we love Edward! He was introduce to other of her friends and is participating in her plays!

We'll have to get a system of joint custody!

A pequena Papgena teve uma semana difícil porque na terça-feira levou duas vacinas e um dos bracitos ficou a doer-lhe bastante. Por isso, esta surpresa, este miminho, chegou mesmo na altura certa!

Little Papgena had a tough week, because on Tuesday took two vaccines and one of her arms was hurting a lot. Therefore, this surprise, this little gift came at the right time!

A Cama / The Bed

Depois de ter feito os bonecos faltava a cama!
Para isso peguei numa caixa de bolachas de água e sal (mede aproximadamente 18,5 cm x 18,5 cm x 6,5 cm):
Once I had made the finger puppets I had to do the bed!
To do so I grabbed a box of crackers (measures approximately 18.5 cm x 18.5 cm x 6.5 cm):

Retirei o conteúdo e enchi-o com esponja (daquelas que vêm nas caixas de componentes de informática):
I removed the contents and filled it with sponge (those that come in computer components’ boxes):

Depois peguei nos restos de um lençol da pequena papgena (comprei-o num saldo – ela adora a Miffy – mas era demasiado grande para a cama dela por isso, tive que fazer ajustes e sobrou-me bastante pano) e com a pistola de cola quente colei o tecido à caixa, como se a estivesse a embrulhar:
I then took the remains of a little papgena’s sheet (I bought it in a sale - she loves Miffy - but it was too big for her bed, so I had to make adjustments and that left me with extra fabric) and with the hot glue gun I glued the fabric to the box, as if I was wrap it:

Recortei dois pedaços de cartão com forma arredondada para a cabeceira e pés da cama e colei, ensanduichando o cartão, feltro castanho (cozi, na máquina, toda a beira para ficar bem seguro e dar acabamento):
I cut two pieces of cardboard with rounded shape to make the bed’s head and foot and ‘sandwiched’ the card between two layers of brown felt (I sewed as close as the edge as I could):

Para os lados e o fundo da cama, também usei feltro castanho (colei-o com cola quente):
To the bed’s sides and bottom I also used brown felt (I glued it with the hot glue gun also):

Para o cobertor e lençol de cima resolvi fazer uma sanduiche com bocados de tecido (para imitar um quilt), um bocado de uma toalha de felpo (para o interior) e mais um retalho do tecido da miffy para o lençol:
For the blanket and top sheet I decided to make a sandwich with bits of fabric (to mimic a quilt), a bit of a old cotton towelling towel (for the inside), plus a bit of Miffy’s fabric:

Cozi, à máquina bocadinhos de tecido para imitar um quilt / I machine sewed bits of fabric, to mimic a quilt

Cozi o tecido do lençol aou outro lado do felpo / I sewed the sheet to the other side of the cotton towelling towel

Cortei o tecido de lençol maior para fazer a dobra / I cut the fabric sheet bigger to make the fold

Já pronto: o lado de cobertor / Ready: the side of blanket

E claro que fiz uma almofada também!
Of course I made a pillow too!

Cortei um rectangulo e cozi 3 lados, com o avesso para fora / I cut a rectangle and sewed 3 sides, with right sides facing each other

Virei o direito para fora, enchi-o com bocadinhos de linhas e cozi a toda a volta / I turned right sides out, filled it with pieces of threads and sewed all the way around

Missão cumprida!
Mission accomplished!

10 numa cama / 10 in the bed

A minha filha adora este livro! Recebeu-o quando tinha 2 anos, dos avós, e nessa altura, durante dois meses foi a história que ela queria que lesse todas as noites antes de dormir. Depois disso, é um livro que ela revisita sempre com muito agrado.

O livro é, de facto, muito divertido, as ilustrações são magníficas e consegue-se explorá-lo de diversas formas (como já devem ter reparado, não é só a miúda que se diverte com ele! ).

My daughter loves this book! She received it, when she was 2, from her grandparents, and then, for two months, it was the story she wanted to read every night before bed. After that, it’s a book that we read always with great pleasure.
The book is in fact a lot of fun, the illustrations are magnificent and it’s possible to exploit it in different ways (as you have noticed isn’t only the little girl who has fun with it!).

Ora, este foi um dos livros seleccionados pela pequena Papgena para o calendário de advento de livros e foi desembrulhado uma semana e meia antes do Natal. E quando estava a lê-lo, subitamente lembrei-me que seria muito fixe conseguir transportar o conjunto cama, bonecos, cobertores e almofadas do papel para as 3 dimensões.
Nasceu assim, a ideia para o presente de Natal da pequena Papgena (o único presente artesanal que este ano fiz) e apraz-me dizer que foi um sucesso!!!

Now, this was one of the books selected by little Papgena for our book’s advent calendar and it was unwrapped one week before Christmas. And when I was reading it, I suddenly remembered that it would be really cool to be able to transport the bed, dolls, blankets and pads from paper to 3 dimensions.
And so little Papgena’s Christmas gift, the only handmade Christmas’ gift that I made this year, was born. And I can say with great pleasure that the gift was greatly appreciated!!!!

Não tenho um tutorial para os fantoches de dedo (foram feitos á noite, às escondidas) mas posso dizer-vos que para as figuras bases usei este link (como neste post). Para a personalização de cada boneco utilizei como inspiração as imagens do livro e as imagens deste link para o ouriço, deste para a ovelha e deste para o crocodilo. Utilizei feltro para os fantoches e bordei os pormenores dos rostos/focinhos.
Mas se tiverem alguma dúvida, estou cá para ajudar!

I don’t have a tutorial for the finger puppets (they were made at night, in secret) but I can tell you that for the basic shapes I used this link (as in this post). For customization of each doll, I inspired myself in the pictures of the book and the ones on these links: the hedgehog, the sheep and the crocodile. I use felt and I embroidery the face’s details.

O pequeno Panda decidiu, na madrugada de 31/12/2011, às 38 semanas de gestação, que era tempo de vir-nos fazer companhia. E às 7 da manhã, ele estava cá fora!
Lindo, pequenino, perfeito e cheio de saúde!
A esperá-lo tinha o pai e a mãe agradecidos (depois de nove meses tão confusos) e uma mana em êxtase, e que aguentou bravamente ter sido acordada às 4 da manhã e esperar no hospital aquelas horas todas (aproveitou para travar conhecimento com todas as enfermeiras, médicos e auxiliares que estavam de turno!).
Já estamos em casa, a habituar-nos a novas rotinas e a sermos uma família de 4!
Um bom ano de 2012!!

Little Panda decided, early on 31.12.2011, at 38 weeks of gestation, it was time to come to join us. And at 7 am, he was out here!
Cute, tiny, perfect and full of health!
Wainting for him were his grateful parents (after so confused nine months) and a big sister full of joy who, bravely endured have been awakened at 4 in the morning and wait all those hours in the hospital (she took the opportunity to become acquainted with all the nurses, doctors and assistants who were on duty!).
We are now at home, getting used to new routines and to be a family of 4!

Chá e Bolos / Tea & Cakes

Lentamente tenho recomeçado alguns projectos mas, a verdade é que ainda não terminei nada, ultimamente.
No entanto, há várias coisas que fiz entre Maio e Agosto que não postei. É o caso dos trabalhos de hoje.
Lembram-se do serviço de chá que fiz para a Rita, no Natal?
Claro que a pequena Papgena ficou em pulgas para ter um também!!!
E por isso, fiz-lhe um mini-serviço para que a Sara e o Coelho pudessem tomar chá. Resolvi acrescentar o bolo para a ocasião:

Slowly I have restarted some projects but the truth is I haven’t finished anything yet.
However, there are several things I did between May and August and didn’t post them. It’s the case today.

Do you remember the tea set that I did, last Christmas, for Rita?
Little Papgena was anxious to have one too!
And so, I made her a mini set.

Sara and the Rabbit organize a tea party. I decided to add a cake for the occasion:

E quando a Rita fez dois anos, em Junho, achei que era giro fazer-lhe uns bolinhos!
And when Rita was two, last June, I thought she should have cakes too!

Happy Birthday Rita

E já que estava com a mão na massa, aproveitei para fazer um para mim! Que serve para eu pôr os meus alfinetes. Parece incrível mas eu não tinha nenhum alfineteiro!
And since I was with my hands on the yarn, I made one for myself too!
I use it as a pincushion! I hadn’t one!

E quanto à minha barriga? Tem crescido!
And what about my belly? It has grown!!

Aqui está uma fotografia tirada a 1 de Outubro (parece impossível, já passou um mês! Tenho que tirar outra!).
Here is a photograph taken on October 1 (it's been a month already!). I have to take another one!

O panda mexe-se bem e eu tenho-me sentido bem embora, me tenha sido diagnosticado diabetes gestacional outra vez (Já tinha tido na gravidez da pequena Papgena).
Little panda is an active baby and I have been feeling well though, I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes again (I had it too in little Papgena’s pregnancy).

Desculpem o testo tão longo mas, esta é uma história que leva o seu tempo a contar. Se não estiverem com disposição para leituras, passem ao blog seguinte do vosso google reader.
A sério que não vos levo a mal!!!
Então o que se tem passado comigo?
Bom…Estou grávida!
De quase 6 meses!
E porque não tenho falado nisto?
Descobri que estava grávida em Maio mas, e em virtude do que aconteceu em Dezembro, desta vez não contamos a ninguém. Gato escaldado da água fria tem medo!
No principio de Junho, tivemos a certeza que era uma gravidez verdadeira, com um embrião a formar-se. Mas, o médico pôs-nos tantas reticências por causa da minha idade (tenho 41 anos) que ficamos um pouco abalados e continuamos sem dizer nada a ninguém. Tivemos férias nesse mês, a pequena papgena precisava de fazer muita praia, por causa dos ouvidos, isolamo-nos em casa de uns familiares junto à praia, sem contacto com ninguém. Acabaram por ser 3 semanas muito relaxadas e sem grandes preocupações a não ser a preparação da festa da pequena papgena, no último fsm de Junho.
Logo a seguir ao aniversário dela fui fazer a ecografia das 12 semanas.
Fomos a um médico muito conhecido aqui da cidade, o mesmo a que eu tinha ido na gravidez da pequena Papgena. A ecografia começou calma, com ele a dizer-nos que aparentava ser uma menina mas, progressivamente transformou-se num exame custoso porque o panda não colaborava com o médico e ele teve que abanar e empurrar a barriga para ele se ir virando, por mais de hora e meia, para conseguir medir todos os indicadores!
No fim desta hora e meia, o médico disse-nos que tudo parecia bem excepto o valor da translucência da nuca, que estava muito chegado ao valor superior do intervalo. Era o único factor de risco que o médico encontrava mas, conjugado com a minha idade (por esta altura, eu já estava farta da minha idade!!!) dava uma probabilidade de risco de Trissomias bastante alta.
O médico entrou então num pintar de quadro muito negro, tentando que eu lhe respondesse o que faria se os piores cenários se concretizassem. Não gostei da pressão! Deixou-me de rastos!
O exame tinha sido extremamente cansativo mas, durante todo o tempo eu estive a ver um bebezinho, ao que tudo indicava, saudável, a brincar, a mexer-se e aquela pressão para pensar e encarar cenários catastrofistas tirou-me do sério!!!
Não dormi nessa noite!!!
No dia a seguir fui ao meu médico assistente, que nos tentou acalmar e relativizar aquelas probabilidades.
Fiz a recolha de sangue para o rastreio combinado e ficamos à espera dos resultados.
Demoraram 3 semanas!!!! A partir do fim da 2ª semana, confesso que só dormia cerca de 3 a 4 horas por noite, e um sono cheio de pesadelos!!
Quando finalmente chegaram, no fim de Julho, os resultados eram muito bons, baixando consideravelmente a probabilidade de ocorrência de qualquer das trissomias.
O meu médico considerou que não devíamos arriscar a amniocintese, porque o risco de aborto espontâneo, na minha idade (outra vez!!!), era bem mais alto do que aquelas probabilidades!!
Respiramos um pouco de alívio.
Comecei a dormir melhor e a encarar com outros olhos esta gravidez.
No entanto, dissemos a muito poucas pessoas e continuamos sem dizer nada á pequena papgena. Claro que, por essa altura a barriga já estava a crescer e ela andava desconfiadíssima. Mas, eu ainda não me sentia confiante e quisemos esperar pela ecografia morfológica (a das 20 semanas)
Quando o dia chegou, lá fomos, apreensivos mas não demasiado nervosos. Eu escolhi não voltar ao médico que me tinha stressado e fomos a outro.
O médico começou por nos dizer que era um rapaz! (nós já andávamos a pensar em nomes de meninas) e foi-nos dizendo o que ia estando bem.
Até que, a certa altura, teve um movimento brusco e ficou concentradíssimo no ecran e muito calado. Eu olhei para o Papageno e só pensei ‘o que será agora’. Depois de um tempo assim, o médico acabou por dizer que tudo parecia bem com o bebé excepto o coração!!! Ele só via duas cavidades em vez de quatro e aconselhou que entrássemos em contacto com o meu médico assistente!
Saímos completamente zonzos e enquanto eu me afundei num sofá, na sala de espera, em choque só via o Papageno a andar para um lado e para outro a falar ao telemóvel.
Ao fim de 20 minutos, chegou à minha beira e disse que tinha ligado ao meu médico assistente, que estava de férias mas que o atendeu, que este lhe tinha dado o contacto de outra médica em Guimarães. Ele ligou, a médica já tinha saído mas quando expôs o caso, contactaram-na e ela voltou para trás para nos atender! (vai ficar para sempre nas minhas orações!!).
Esta médica tornou a fazer a ecografia toda e assegurou-nos que está tudo bem com o rapazinho!!! O coração tem as 4 cavidades, e tudo o que é possível ver num feto de 20 semanas, está lá, nos sítios certos!!!
Confesso que durante o resto do dia, e os dias a seguir, andei um pouco nas nuvens, sem saber muito bem se deveria chorar ou rir!
Demos finalmente a noticia do mano à pequena Papgena, que está absolutamente encantada e começamos a espalhar a notícia pela família alargada e pelos amigos.
Neste momento estou quase de 24 semanas, sendo que o parto será lá para o fim do ano, provavelmente pelas 38 semanas, porque o médico se inclina para uma cesariana (mais uma vez por causa da minha idade! IIRA! e de uma cesariana anterior ele não quer arriscar um parto normal).
Ainda não fiz absolutamente nada para o pequeno Panda!!!
E sinto-me a recuperar dos meus pensamentos negros mas, ainda não estou completamente normal. Ainda não consigo adormecer facilmente, ando a dormir á volta de 6 horas por noite (o que para o meu organismo é pouco, eu sou moça de dormir 8 a 9 horas por noite), não tenho grande energia, a vontade que tenho é de me afundar no sofá e no meu subconsciente continua a dúvida e o receio: estará mesmo tudo bem???

So what has happened to me?
Well ... I'm pregnant!
6 months, almost!
And why have not spoken about it?
I discovered I was pregnant in May but, because of what happened in December, this time we didn’t tell anyone.
We find out that this was a real pregnancy in early June, but the doctor put us so many problems because of my age (I'm 41 years old) that we were a little shaken and continue without saying anything to anyone. We had vacation that month, little papgena needed to go to the beach, on the recommendation of the otolaryngologist, so we went alone, three weeks, to a house by the beach with no contact with anyone. Turned out to be a very relaxed time with no major concerns other than the preparation of little papgena’s anniversary party in the last weekend of June.
Immediately after her birthday I went for the 12 weeks’ ultrasound.
We went to a well-known physician, here in town, the same that I had gone in the little Papgena’s pregnancy. The ultrasound began calmly, with him telling us that appeared to be a girl but gradually became a hard examination because little panda didn’t collaborate with the doctor and he had to push the belly in order to the baby move and turn. It took one hour and half for the doctor to measure all indicators!
At the end of this hour and half, the doctor told us that everything looked good except the value of nuchal’s translucency, which was very close to the upper range. It was the only risk factor that the doctor found, but combined with my age (by this time I was sick of my age!) the risk of trisomies was very high.
The doctor then went to paint a very black picture of what could be wrong with the baby, trying to push me to answer what I would do if the worst scenarios become reality. I didn’t like it! It affected me deeply!
The examination was extremely hard, my belly was in pain but during that time I was watching a little baby, to all appearances, healthy, playing, and that pressure to think and face bad scenarios make me mad!
I didn’t sleep that night!
The next day I went to my doctor witch tried to calm us and put those odds in perspective.
I took blood for analysis and we await the results.
It took 3 weeks!!
From the end of second week, I was able to sleep only 3 to 4 hours per night, and a sleep full of nightmares!
When they finally arrived in late July, the results were very, very good, lowering a lot the initial risk.
My doctor felt that we should not risk amniocintese because the risk of miscarriage, at my age (ARGH!!), was much higher than those odds!
We were both a little calmer.
I started to sleep better and look with fresh eyes this pregnancy.
However, we only tell the news to very few people and didn’t say anything to little papgena. By then, the belly was growing and she was very suspiciously but, I still didn’t feel confident and want to wait for the morphology’s ultrasound (at 20 weeks).
When the day arrived, we went there, scared, but not too nervous.
I choose not to return to the doctor that made the 12 weeks’ ultrasound and we went to another one.
The doctor began by telling us it was a boy! (We were thinking of girls’ names)
He went on and said that the brain was ok and the spine too until... at one point he had a sudden movement and was focused to the screen and very quiet. I looked at Papageno and thought 'oh man! What is it this time?’
After a very long time the doctor finally said that everything looked good with the baby except the heart!
He saw only two cavities instead of four and advised to establish contact with my doctor!
We left completely dizzy and as I sank down on a couch in the waiting room, in shock, I saw Papageno walk from one side to another while talking on the phone.
After 20 minutes, came to my side and said that he had called my doctor, who was on vacation but who answered (thank God!) that he had given him the contact of another doctor in Guimarães. He called the doctor and she had already left but when told what kind of case it was, they contacted her and she came back to attend us! (She’ll stay forever in my prayers!).
We fly to Guimarães. The lady doctor made another ultrasound and assured us that all is well with the baby! The heart has four chambers, and all that you can see in a 20 weeks fetus is there, in the right places!
I confess that during the rest of the day and in the next I walked on clouds, not quite knowing whether to cry or laugh!
We finally told the news to little Papgena, who is absolutely thrilled and began to spread the word by the extended family and friends.
I am currently almost 24 weeks, and the delivery will be in the end of the year, probably at 38 weeks because the doctor wants to do a c-section (because of my age, AGAIN, and a previous c-section, he doesn’t want to risk a normal delivery).
I have not done anything for the little Panda!
And I am recovering from my dark thoughts, but I'm still not completely normal.
I still can’t fall asleep easily, I’m sleeping around 6 hours per night (which is very few hours for my body, I'm a sleeping 8-9 hours a night kind of girl).
I don’t have much energy, all I want is to sink in my couch and in my subconscious a doubt and a fear is still there: is the baby okay?? Really?? Is it?

A prenda da Joana / Joana’s Gift

Tenho sido uma blogger extremamente ausente, gostaria de dizer que tenho feito imensos trabalhos e que é por isso que não tenho postado mas, a verdade é que julgo que estou a lutar com uma depressão e, para já, ela está a ganhar!
MAS eu tenciono virar o resultado!!!

I've been an extremely absent blogger, I would like to say that I have done lots of work and that is why I have not posted but, the truth is that I think I'm struggling with depression and, for now, it's winning !
BUT I intend to fight hard!

Hoje vou mostrar a prenda, que enviei à Joana, quando ela nasceu em meados de Abril!
Depois de ter feito a prenda do John e tendo por base a mesma inspiração e os mesmos materiais de começo:
Today, I will show the gift that I sent to Joana when she was born in mid-April!
After having made the gift from John and based on the same inspiration and beginning with the same materials:

uma cruzeta, uma moldura para fotografias, uma t-shirt branca e uma sweatshirt branca para bebé (que me esqueci de incluir na fotografia!) / a hanger, a picture frame, a white t-shirt and a baby's sweatshirt (that I forgot to include in the picture!)

pensei que a da Joana seriam favas contadas (a teoria da curva de experiência e tal). Bom…estava um pouco enganada!!!
Para começar na camisola em vez de uma gravata (podia ter aplicado uma gravata cor-de-rosa) eu pretendia aplicar um laço cor-de-rosa mas, a verdade é que não consegui nem aplicar uma tira de tecido num laço, nem recortar tecido na forma de um laço que me satisfizessem. Por isso, fui fazendo os outros itens e no final acabei por usar um cortante da sizzix (que já usei aqui e aqui):
I thought that Joana's would be a easy ride (the experience curve theory and all that). Well ... I was a bit wrong!
To start, on the sweater instead of a tie (I could have applied a pink tie) I want to have a big pink bow! But the truth is that I could come up with one that satisfy me. So, I went doing the other items and in the end I got back to the sweater and ended up using a Sizzix’s die (that I've used here and here):

Relativamente à moldura, a minha ideia era fazer o que fiz com a moldura do John mas, tendo como motivo a menina e o tecido em tons cor-de-rosa.
No entanto, quando acabei de bordar dei-me conta que a menina estava muito chegada á borda e não conseguiria recortar um círculo com ela no centro:
For the frame, my idea was to do what I did with John’s frame but, with the girl’s design in pink fabric.
But, when I finished the embroidery, I realized that the girl was very close to the edge and I couldn’t cut a circle with it in the center:

Dir-me-ão que poderia ter bordado outra mas, em primeiro lugar eu sou um bocado preguiçosa e por outro, a minha data limite estava mesmo, mesmo aí!
Em vez disso, resolvi transformá-la numa boneca tridimensional (utilizando nas costas o mesmo tecido que utilizei na camisola):
Obviously I could embroidery it again but, first I’m a bit lazy and on the other, my deadline was really, really there!
Instead, I decided to turn it into a three dimensional doll (I used, on the back, the same fabric as used in the sweater):

Achei que desta forma a moldura estava vazia pelo que resolvi fazer 3 flores com tiras de tecido e aplicar no lado oposto.
I thought this way the frame was empty so I decided to make 3 fabric strips flowers and apply on the opposite side:

Ao colar as flores ficou um espaço vazio maior do que eu pretendia mas, um botão em forma de coração rapidamente resolveu o assunto. E botões forrados colados no centro de cada uma das flores deram um toque final:
When gluing the flowers there was a bigger space than I intended, but a heart-shaped button quickly solved the issue and fabric covered buttons give the final touch:

E gosto mais!!! (se bem que a ideia não seria tão gira para um menino).
And I like it better! (althought it wouldn’t work for a boy).

Quanto ao gorro e à cruzeta fiz exactamente o mesmo que para o John, só tendo em atenção às cores escolhidas (tudo cor-de-rosa claro!!!):

Olá a todos!!!
Finalmente voltei ao convívio virtual. As dificuldades técnicas levaram mais tempo a resolver do que eu estava à espera e entretanto, a vida real e de todos os dias foi-se metendo e eu sem poder aparecer.
Mas hoje está a chover, parece mesmo um dia de inverno por isso, nada como um dia em casa, de pijama e a pôr a ‘conversa a dia’!

I finally got back to the virtual world. Technical difficulties took longer to resolve than I expected and real life was getting in the way so I was unable to appear.
But today it's raining, looks like a winter day so nothing like a day at home in your pajamas and have a good chat!

Talvez se lembrem que em Fevereiro eu postei sobre os trabalhos que tinha em mãos e falei das prendas para dois bebés.
Então hoje vamos começar pelo John, que nasceu em final de Fevereiro? principio de Março? (é uma vergonha mas já não me lembro bem! Não leves a mal Lilia!).
Para a prenda do John eu comecei com isto:

You may recall that in February I posted about the works I was doing and in particular of gifts for two babies.
So, today let's start with John, who was born in late February? beginning of March? (It's a shame but I don’t remember!! Lilia please don’t take this the wrong way!).
For John’s gift I started with this:

Em Fevereiro, no Lark Crafts tinha havido uma série para bordar, em que eu não pude participar mas, que foi a inspiração para a prenda do John (e da Joana também como irão ver).
In February, in Lark Crafts was post a Doodle Stitch Along that I could not participate, but that was the inspiration for John’s gift (and Joana’s too as you will see!!!).

bordei o motivo 2 em grande em pequeno e um dos cogumelos do motivo 3 / I embroidered motif # 2 in both sizes and one fo the mushrooms from motif #3

Para a sweatshirt usei a mesma ideia desta prenda de Natal. Para a gravata utilizei o mesmo tecido que tinha usado para os bordados, bordei o monograma e um cogumelo do motivo 3:
For the sweatshirt I used the same idea of this Christmas’ present. For the tie I used the same fabric as was sused for embroidery, I embroidered a monogram and a mushroom from motif 3:

Na página 22 as instruções mandam juntar todas as filas que fizemos anteriormente e finalmente temos uma noção de como ficará!
O que falta é juntar tiras a emoldurar este motivo central. E ainda não avancei por dois motivos: o primeiro é que tenho que arranjar essas tiras nas cores recomendadas (talvez vá desmanchar umas camisas de homem para isso) o segundo, é que como já vi o quilt final sei que estes dois triângulos vermelhos da esquerda (fotografia abaixo) deviam sobressair mais e, neste momento isso não acontece porque ao lado tenho um conjunto que devia ser bege e verde e que é bege e vermelho (porque na altura não tinha tecido verde. Estou, por isso, extremamente tentada em desmanchar e voltar a fazer!!
O que acham?
On page 22 the instructions say to sew all the lines, that we did before, together and we finally have an idea of how it’ll look!
What is missing is joining strips to frame this central motif.
I didn’t do it yet for two reasons: the first is that I have to get these strips in the recommended colors (I might be cutting up some manshirts to do it) the second is, that as I already saw the final quilt, I know these two red triangles on the left (pictured below) should stand out more, and that doesn’t happen now because I have a set that should be beige and green and that is beige and red (because at the time I hadn’t green fabric). I am so sorely tempted to re-do that section!
What do you think?

PS – como disse, no principio deste post, a vidinha de todos os dias tem prejudicado bastante o tempo e a disposição para me ligar online, cuidar deste blog e visitar todos os outros. No site Erik Homemade as instruções para o quilt mistério já terminaram! Até já começaram uma nova série, o Quilt Susannah, (estou a guardar todas as páginas porque sei que vou querer fazê-lo mas, agora é impossivel em termos de tempo!).
Resolvi lançar-me ao trabalho, e embora ainda não o tenha acabado (são 29 páginas e só cheguei à 22ª), dei-lhe um adianto!
Erik Homemade’s site has published the Quilt Mistery’s last page (29th) and they started a new one, the Susannah Quilt (I’ve been save the pages for future use), I didn’t finished it yet but I went until page 22.

Estas tiras foram unidas de forma a conseguir 2 rectângulos de 5 tiras cada um e na pág. 18 era necessário cortá-los de forma a fazer quadrados em que metade fossem beges e metade vermelhos às tiras. Mas não tenho fotografias porque me esqueci completamente de as tirar!
These strips were sew together (five each) to make 2 larger strips and then in the 18th page we use them and beige fabric to make half-squares triangles. But I completely forgotten to take pictures!

Para o interior, utilizei o fundo de uma caixa de um brinquedo da Dora, que a pequena Papgena recebeu no Natal (desculpem mas, não tenho fotografias da caixa, esqueci-me completamente de tirar fotografias antes de a cortar e andei à procura na net mas não encontro fotografias do brinquedo!!), para dividir a casa em dois pisos e o cartão com imagens da caixa para decorar as paredes da casa e criar dois ambientes:

Só ontem me apercebi que já não postava nada há duas semanas! O tempo passa a correr!!
Não é que não tenha andado ocupada e que não tenha trabalhos para mostrar mas, a verdade é que tem faltado o tempo para me sentar à frente do computador por um lado e por outro, tem faltado motivação.
Primeiro vários membros da minha família têm tido problemas de saúde, uns mais sérios que outros mas nada demasiado sério, felizmente.
Depois toda a situação do Japão tem-me deixado tão atarantada! Sinceramente!
Onde está a ‘Enterprise’ quando precisamos dela! Honestamente sempre pensei, enquanto crescia, que quando chegasse a adulta teríamos atingido o tipo de avanços que a série ‘Star Trek’ explorava! Parece que estava enganada…
Em seguida é toda a situação económica no mundo, na Europa e principalmente do país! Todas as noticias são sobre a crise! Crise! Crise! Crise! Económica e agora também política! Sem governo?? E eleições só em Junho??? Pelo amor de Deus!!!!
E, finalmente, uma colega de trabalho faleceu no fim-de-semana passado de um AVC! Aos 50 anos!! Confesso que me sinto um pouco zonza! Não éramos próximas mas, isso não impede de sentir empatia pelos sentimentos de perda da sua família.
Desculpem o desabafo!
Vou fazer o melhor possível para não me deixar abater mais! E vou tentar sentar-me este fim-de-semana em frente ao computador e agendar (espero que o blogger colabore!) alguns posts mostrando o que tenho andado a fazer!

I realized, yesterday, that I haven’t posted anything for two weeks! Time runs!
I’ve been busy and I do have pictures! But the truth is that I haven’t had much time to sit in front of my pc and, on the other hand, I was not motivated.
First, several members of my family have had health problems, some more serious than others but nothing too serious, thankfully.
Second, there is Japan’s situation! Where is the "Enterprise" when we need it! Honestly I always thought, while growing up, that when I became to adulthood we would have achieved the kind of progress that 'Star Trek' series explores! Guess not ...
Next, is the whole economic situation in the world, in Europe and in Portugal mainly! All news is about the crisis! Crisis! Crisis! Crisis! Economic first and political now! Without government? And elections only in June?? For really??!!! God help us!!
And finally, a co-worker died last weekend from a stroke! At 50 years! I feel so… dizzy! We were not close but that does not stop me to feel empathy for her family’s loss! So that’s it! That’s what is been going with me! Sorry for all this moan!
I'll do my best not to let me go down anymore! And I'll try to sit down this weekend in front of the pc and schedule (I hope the blogger will cooperate!) a few posts showing what I have been doing!

Resolvi usar as duas peças maiores e fazer um peluche/almofada carro dos bombeiros (eu ando numa de almofadas não ando???)
I took the two larger pieces and make a stuff doll/pillow of a fire trucker (come of think of it, I’m really into pillows!!)

Cortei um dos lados mais altos nas duas peças / I cut one of the taller sides from both pieces

Claro que me esqueci que devia cortar em lados opostos e por isso, tive que fazer uma emenda!!! / I completely forgot to cut in opposite sides so, I have to make an amendment!!! DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!

Cá estamos para a segunda parte do nosso desafio. Pegar nesta fantasia de bombeiro e transformá-la (podem a ver o dia 1, aqui):
Here we are for the second part of our challenge use this costume in other ways (you can see day 1, here):

Desta vez usei-a para a prenda do P., que fez dois anos no fim-de-semana passado.
Se bem se lembram, no Natal fiz uma almofada ao M., o seu irmão mais velho, e a mãe dos miúdos pediu-me outra para que cada um tivesse a sua. No entanto, não consegui encontrar tecido igual e por uns tempos andei à deriva. Até que vi esta fantasia e tive uma ideia, é que o P. adora o bombeiro Sam!!
Por isso, comecei por desmanchá-la:
So this time I use it for P.’s birthday gift, his second anniversary was last weekend.
Last Christmas, you may remember, I did a pillow for his older brother and their mother asked me another one for P. I couldn’t find the fabric, however so, I was lost for some time! But, when I saw this costume I finally have one idea, you see Firefighter Sam is one of P.’s favourite characters!
The first thing I did was disassemble it!

Enquanto tinha estas peças todas à minha frente, ocorreu-me que também as podia usar para dar uma nova cara a um cesto que cá tenho em casa…
With all the pieces in front me I remember I could refashion a basket…

Mas como temos que fazer uma almofada, vamos pegar na frente do carro, nos retrovisores e na sirene e cozê-los num tecido às riscas vermelhas, azuis e brancas:
Well back to the point, we must make a pillow!!
I sew the front of the truck, the buzzer and the rearview mirrors to a red, blue and white stripes fabric:

Para a parte de trás da almofada ainda tinha tecido igual ao da outra (e a fita de viés também) por isso decidi recriar uma mangueira e utilizá-la para criar a letra P:
For the back, I still had fabric from the other pillow and bias tape also so, I decide to create a hose and use it to make the letter P:

cozi as alças de forma a criar uma fita vermelha / I sew the straps together

cozi a fita vermelha ao pano / then I sew the tape to the fabric

cobri com uma tira de feltro preta / Next, I cover it with black felt

Carnaval: Dia 1 / Carnival: day 1

Espero que tenham tido um óptimo Carnaval, nós fomos até ao Algarve pois o nosso sobrinho festejava o seu terceiro aniversário na segunda feira (se tiverem curiosidade de espreitar o que fiz para ele, no ano passado, podem ver aqui, aqui e aqui) e apanhamos chuva e temporal e trovoadas, enfim…ainda bem que não fomos lá por causa do Carnaval!!
Mas vamos começar a nossa mini-série dedicada ao Carnaval ou, mais concretamente, a esta fantasia e o que se pode fazer com ela!
I hope you had a really good time on Carnival. We went to Algarve for our nephews’ third anniversary (if you’re curious you can check what I did for him, last year, here, here and here) and we got a terrible weather: rain, storms, thunderlights…I’m really glad that we didn’t go on purpose for the Carnival!
Anyway let’s get started with this mini-series about Carnival, or rather this costume and what we can do with that!

E a primeira coisa que fiz com ela foi a prenda do meu sobrinho!Bordei o nome dele na parte da frente e cozi uma base de feltro preto à parte de baixo da fantasia:
The first thing I did with this costume it was the birthday gift for my nephew!
I embroider his name at the front of the truck and sew a black felt base to close the costume .

Em seguida retirei as alças, enchi-a como se fosse uma almofada e cozi feltro vermelho para fechar a parte superior.
Next, I removed the handles, stuff it and sew red felt on the top to close it:

Aí vem a Bombeira Sarinha!
Here comes firefighter Sarinha!

Posso assegurar-vos que foi um secesso, o meu sobrinho e a pequena Papgena fartaram-se de brincar com este peluche/almofada carro dos bombeiros!
I can assure you that this had a great sucess! Both my girl and my nephew love to ‘ride’ the truck!!

Carnaval / Carnival

Dizem que é Carnaval e ninguém leva a mal mas, a verdade é que há coisas que são demais!
Ou eu tenho más energias ou as tecnologias não gostam de mim!

There is a saying, here in Portugal, that goes something like this: It’s Carnival, no one take it in the wrong way! It maybe so BUT to much is to much!
Either I have bad energy or thechnologies hate me!

Não contente com isso, ontem à noite estive até às 3 da manhã a agendar quatro posts para começar uma série hoje (vou estar sem net durante esse tempo) e descobri que desapareceu tudo! PUF!
On top of it, last night I work until 3 a.m. in order to schedule, in the blogger, 4 posts (until wednesday, I will not have internet connection till there) and I found out that everything is gone!

Vamos brincar! / Let’s play!

Em Setembro do ano passado, estávamos nós em férias, a ‘Planeta De Agostini’ começou a publicar uma colecção ‘Animais da Quinta’ composta por um livro e o boneco respectivo. O primeiro número foi o da ovelha e além do livro sobre as ovelhas, trazia o carneiro, a ovelha e o cordeiro. A pequena Papgena adora ovelhas. Por isso, quando as viu no quiosque claro que se enamorou. E assim começou a colecção. Depois vieram os porquinhos, os cavalos, as galinhas, etc. A colecção, prevê a editora, terá 40 fascículos e se a assinássemos receber-se-ia um tapete de actividades e umas casinhas!
Last September, when we were on our vacations, “Planeta De Agostini” started to publish a new collection “Farm’s Animals”. Each delivery has a book and little figures of the animal. The first issue was about the sheep and there were 3 little figures: the ram, the ewe and the lamb. Little Papgena LOVES sheep so, naturally she was in love with that issue and we bought it for her, and so her collection began. The publisher says there it will be 40 deliveries and if you make a subscription you get a playmat and little play houses.

Bom, para nós é impossível essa hipótese e além disso nós gostamos de construir!!!
Well, that’s not an option (40 issues!!! No way!) and we are DYI people, after all!

Por isso, num destes dias de chuva, peguei nos 3 cartões das primeiras entregas e resolvi fazer-lhe um cenário
Dois dos cartões colei-os de forma a fazer uma base mais forte e do terceiro cortei-o de maneira a retirar as letras de publicidade e ficarem os desenhos das casas. Depois, colamos papel de seda verde e azul para fazer o efeito de relva e água.
So one of these days, on a rainy weekend, we decided to make a scenery for her little figures. We took the 3 cards from the first issues and glued two of them so there was a stronger surface and with the other one we cut to appear only the houses and then glue it to the surface.

Como no Natal uma das prendas que a pequena recebeu foi uma quinta dos pin & pon que trazia um cenário em cartolina, aproveitei e colei-o também para aumentar o cenário.
On Christmas one of the gifts that little Papgena received was a pin & pon farm and there was also a card with a scenery so we glue it too!

Entretanto, o Papageno, com uma caixa de cartão, construiu-lhe um estábulo. Tem duas portas, daquelas que se abrem a meio para os cavalos, duas janelas que também abrem, um portão grande atrás e um telhado com uma clarabóia.
Papageno, with a cardboard box made a barn. It has 2 doors for horses (that open in the middle), two windows, a big door in the back and a window in the ceiling.

Está mesmo gira mas, achamos que precisava de alguma cor.
Como não temos grande jeito para pinturas, lembrei-me dos cenários da ‘Dolls and daydreams’. Claro que os cenários estão pensados para o tamanho da casa de cartão, da qual ela tem o modelo (que eu ainda não experimentei fazer) mas, fazendo um ‘corte e coze’ conseguimos que o estábulo tivesse agora este aspecto:
It turned out great but we thought that need some colour and we are not very skilled in painting and drawing.
So I use ‘Dolls and daydreams’ barn embellishment pattern. Her pattern is draw to fit her house pattern (that I didn’t try yet) but with a little of cut and glue we manage to make the barn look like this:

(de uma próxima vez que utilize este modelo vou imprimi-lo em papel autocolante, acho que irá resultar melhor).
(next time I will print the pattern in self glue paper I think the final look will be better!)

Uma espreitadela /Sneak Peek

Meus amigos, ando numa roda viva.
Neste final de mês de Fevereiro e principio de Março tenho o aniversário da minha mãe e do meu pai, o aniversário do P. (lembram-se?) e do meu sobrinho (e vamos ao Algarve estar com ele e ver a nossa sobrinha que nasceu no final de Janeiro).
Há dois bebés da família que também estão para nascer: um nos EUA e outro na Alemanha. Como há familiares que vão lá, quero aproveitar a ‘boleia’ para enviar as lembranças.
Por isso, não estranhem se não souberem de mim!
Se tudo correr bem, na próxima semana publicarei dois posts (tenho que acabar de tirar as fotografias) de duas coisas que fizemos para a pequena Papgena brincar e na semana do Carnaval publicarei (se tudo correr MESMO bem) o resultado final de algum destes trabalhos!!!
My dear friends, I’m really busy!
In these last days of February and first days of March it’s both my parents’ birthday. Is also P.’s birthday (remember?) and my nephew (we are going to Algarve in that date and also to see our niece that was born last January). There are also 2 family’s babies that will be born soon, one in the US and the other in Germany. Some family members will go there so I want to send the gifts by them.
So, don’t be surprised if I vanished for some time!
If everything goes according with the plans I will publish two posts next week (I have to take pictures yet) of two projects that we made for little Papgena play. And if everything goes REALLY well in the Carnival’s week I’ll published the final look of some of these works!

Há já algum tempo que tinha ‘encomendado’ ao meu irmão um desenho (o craft dele é o desenho) para usar no meu perfil, na imagem do blog, do flickr, etc!
A verdade é que ele tem andado tão ocupado que eu pensava que ele se tinha esquecido mas, não!
Hoje enviou por email para eu ver se aprovava!
For some time now, I had 'ordered', from my brother, a drawing (his craft is the hand drawing!) that I could use in my profile picture on the blog, on flickr, in the forums, etc!
The truth is that he has been so busy that I thought he had forgot all about it but, no! Today he emailed me to see if I approve!

E eu gostei tanto que tive que partilhar logo, logo!!!!
And I liked it so much that I had to share it right away!!

Ele inspirou-se na personagem Papagena, da ópera “Flauta Mágica” e chegou a este perfil.
Adoraria dizer que ele também se inspirou na minha figura mas, não é verdade!!! Teria que ser uma Papgena mais redondinha!!!
He was inspired by ‘Papagena’, a character from “Magic Flute” and got this profile. I'd love to say that he also drew on my figure but it is not true! Would be a Papgena much more round!

Talvez se tenha inspirado, vagamente, na minha figura aí aos 12 ou 13 em que estudava ballet (era a mais desastrada da classe mas adorei a experiência!).
E eu, que até não me considero uma moça amante do cor-de-rosa, olho para o desenho e sorrio! Acho que está lindo!!!
Por isso, esta senhora vai passar a ser a imagem do meu perfil em tudo o que diga respeito à internet (blogoesfera, flirck, fóruns, etc), e do meu favicon (usei este link). Também vai estar, por agora, no titulo do blog e um destes dias, provavelmente, rendo-me à moda e crio um botão do blog com ela!!!

Última prenda de Natal / Last Christmas Gift

Tinha-me esquecido completamente de mostrar as 2 últimas prendas de Natal!
É que, nas últimas 2 ou 3 semanas tenho andado tão frustrada...nada me sai das mãos!!
Não consigo acabar nada, ou emperro por falta de ideias, ou faço e desfaço porque não me sai bem ou...não tenho mesmo tempo para pegar em nada! Resultado...este blog tem estado parado! Lamento...espero que o enguiço passe e consiga ser mais produtiva (até a bem da minha sanidade mental!!)
Sem mais demora: O G. e o M., os meninos do post anterior têm cada um o seu mano mais novo o A. e o P., mais ou menos com quase dois anos, e para os quais eu não tinha mesmo ideia nenhuma mas, eis que a uma semana do Natal a Mrs. Muffin postou este tutorial e resolveu-me um problema:

I completely forgot to show you my last handmade Christmas gift!!

This last 2 or 3 weeks have been so stressful: I cannot seem to be able to finish something!
Or I stuck with no ideas, or I do and have to undo because it’s not right or…I just don’t have the time to seat and finish something, anything!!! So, this blog is being on hold!
I’m very sorry!
Hopefully this strange mood will soon pass and I’ll be able to finish and show something!
(but I, really want to finish something or else I’ll be crazy very soon!!
So, back to this post issue: G. and M., the two little boys from the previous post, have, both, two younger brothers A. and P., who are almost 2 years old. For them, I didn’t have any idea whatsoever until I saw this tutorial, one week before Christmas, from Mrs Muffin and then I was back in business!

O tutorial dela é muito bom por isso, só vou dizer o que fiz diferente: o formato das minhas árvores, como podem constatar, são diferentes e nas costas cozi as iniciais de cada um, num tecido contrastante:

Her tutorial is very good so I’ll only add what I did different: my trees’ shapes are different and in the back I sew their initials in a stripe fabric.

Na frente cozi um lacinho com fita vermelha e na estrela e em duas das ‘bolas’ pus um guizo dentro com o recheio.
I also sew a little red ribbon in the front; in the star and in two balls I put inside a little bell when I stufed them.

E já está!

Numa tentativa de me organizar criei uma caixa para ir colocando as ideias para as próximas prendas de Natal e/ou outras que for fazendo durante este ano. Há dois bebés da família que, no final do ano, irão estar quase com um ano por isso na caixa já estão cortadas as formas para dois pinheiros, duas estrelas e algumas bolas!

I'm trying to organize myself and I like this idea so much that I put aside, in a box, everything I need to make two other christmas trees. In the end of this year, two babies of our family will be almost an year and I think it's the perfect gift! This way I have a early start. I'll try to keep up the rest of the year!

Para o G. e para o M., dois rapazinhos de 4 e 3 anos, respectivamente, resolvi fazer uma almofada.
Tinha comprado, há algum tempo, na ‘Feira dos Tecidos’ um retalho com um motivo da arca de Noé, porque me apaixonei à primeira vista! Era tão alegre que só de olhar me fazia sorrir. Quando o comprei não tinha qualquer ideia do que ia fazer mas, um dia estava a olhar para ele e reparei que conseguia cortá-lo de forma a obter 3 imagens completas de cerca de 60 cm * 60 cm:

I had bought, some time ago, in ‘Feira dos Tecidos' (a Portuguese shop that sells fabrics) a fabric with a Noah's ark theme, because I fell in love at first sight! It was so happy that made me smile every time I look to it. When I bought it, I had no idea what was I going to do with it but, one day I was looking at it and I noticed that I could cut it in order to get 3 full images of approximately 60 cm * 60 cm:

Bom, quando vi os quadrados, nasceu a ideia das almofadas!
Para as costas das almofadas escolhi um tecido de quadradinhos azuis e um de cor-de-rosa (claro que também tinha que fazer uma para a pequena Papgena):
Well, when I saw the squares, the idea of pillows was born!
For the back I choose a blue squares fabric and a pink fabric one (I had to do one to little Papgena didn’t I?):

Como tinha os restos do tecido lembrei-me de cortar quadrados de 6 cm, com os animais no meio, e fazer um patchwork fingido:
As I had the remains of the fabric, I remembered to cut squares of 6 cm, with the animals in the middle, and make a kind of patchwork:

Conseguem ver os riscos que traçam os quadrados? Do you see the squares' drawing?

(digo-vos que descobri porque é que a Care tem a obsessão dos I-spy squares! È que foi mesmo giro estar a cortar aqueles quadradinhos pequenos!!!).
(I discovered why Care is so obsess with I-spy squares! It was really fun cutting all those small squares!!!).

Dispus os quadrados no tecido de forma a formar a inicial do nome de cada um, enchi a almofada e fechei-a com uma fita de viés (azul para os meninos, cor-de-rosa para a menina). Lindas! E prontinhas para divertir aconchegar e jogar ao Eu Vi!
I set the squares on the fabric so as to form the initial of the name of each one, filled the pillow and closed it with a bias tape (blue for boys, pink for the girl). Beautiful! And ready to snuggle and to play I-spy!

Contras do projecto:
O irmão mais novo do M., o P. de 2 anos, adorou a almofada do irmão e a mãe pediu-me uma almofada igual para ele. Na ‘Feira dos Tecidos’ de Braga já não há e na da Rua Cedofeita, no Porto, também não!

Na de Cedofeita, foram muito simpáticos e andam a tentar encontrar nas outras lojas do país mas ainda não conseguiram.
Por isso, se alguém vir este tecido, numa loja física ou on-line, avisam-me?
O P. está à espera de uma almofada….
Cons of the project:
The younger brother of M., P. of 2 years, loved his brother’s pillow so their mother asked me a similar cushion for him. The shop, in Braga, doesn’t have that fabric anymore and the one in Cedofeita Street, Porto, doesn’t have it too!
In Cedofeita’s shop were very friendly and they are trying to find it in other stores, in the country, but no luck yet.
So, if anyone sees this fabric (or another similar), in a physical store or online, could you please let me know?

Esta semana foi caótica!
Segunda-feira voltei ao trabalho e não acreditam como estava a minha secretária! :P
Se acrescentarmos a isso um colega que foi de licença parental e uma nova colega para dar formação...bom, adormeci todas as noites quando ia deitar a pequena Papgena!!!!

Finalmente na sexta descobri que a minha sobrinha supostamente iria nascer hoje! (afinal, a minha cunhada chgou ao hospital e mandaram-na embora porque não tinham camas! Ela só faz as 40 semanas na quinta mas o médico acha que a bebé já pode saltar cá para fora!). Ora como os meus cunhados moram no Algarve e os meus sogros iam hoje para lá, eu queria enviar uma lembrança por eles!

O meu sobrinho vai passar a ser o mano mais velho (podem ver a minha prenda para o seu segundo aniversário aqui) por isso lembrei-me de comprar uma camisola para ele e um casaco para a bebé mais ou menos da mesma cor:

Monday I returned to work and you wouldn’t believe how my desk was! :P

If we add to that a colleague who was on parental leave and a new colleague to train ... well, I fell asleep every night when I went to put little Papgena to bed!!

Finally on Friday I discovered that my niece was supposed to be born today! (she didn’t, after all, because the hospital sent my sister-in-law home because they had no beds! She only be 40 weeks next Thursday but, the doctor thinks the baby can now jump out!). But as my brother and sister-in-law live in Algarve and my parents-in-laws went there today, I wanted to send a little gift for them!
My nephew is going to be the older brother (you can see my gift for his second birthday here) so I remembered to buy a sweater for him and a jacket for the baby, more or less the same color:

Como no sábado a pequena Papgena tinha um encontro de amiguinhas cá em casa, tive que fazer serão pela noite dentro e resolvi desenhar as letras a lápis no tecido (ao príncípio pensei em recortar letras num tecido constratante e cozer mas, isso iria demorar muito mais tempo!). Peço desculpa da fraca qualidade das fotos mas, foram tiradas já de madrugada:

As on Saturday little Papgena had a small gathering of girlfriends, here at home, I had to work through the night. I decided to draw the letters in pencil on the fabric (at first thought of cutting letters in fabric and sew, but it would take much longer!). Excuse the poor quality of the photos, but were already taken at dawn:

Depois, bordei a ponto de pé-de-flor (utilizei 3 fios linha DMC branca):

Achei que não ficava muito destacado (além do meu bordado não ser muito bom) e por isso cobri-o com linha cor-de-rosa (2 fios):
I thought it was not very prominent (besides my embroidery is not very good) and so I covered it with pink (2 strands):

Fiz o mesmo para a camisola do irmão mais velho (mas o fio que utilizei para cobrir o ponto foi castanho por causa do urso):

PS1 - Enquanto estive em casa consegui ler os volumes 8 e 9 da saga Roda do Tempo. Desde que comecei a trabalhar ainda só consegui ler 7 páginas do 10º! É muito triste!

PS1 - While at home I read volumes 8 and 9 of Wheel of Time saga. Since I started working I managed to read only seven pages of the 10th! It is very sad!

Placa para porta / Bedroom Sign

Para a Catarina, uma bébe de 4 meses, resolvi fazer uma placa para pendurar na porta do quarto.

Bordei a ursinha, em ponto de cruz e depois tornei-a tridimensional:

I embroidered the little girl bear in cross stitch and turn it in three-dimensional:

Em seguida criei uma nuvem branca, em tecido, que depois colei sobre camadas de papel musgami de diferentes tons de cor-de-rosa (com a tesoura fui-lhes dando as formas arredondadas). Por baixo de todas essas camadas colei um cartão forte para dar estrutura. Também pensei bordar os balões em ponto de cruz mas, como estava a ficar sem tempo (acabei esta prenda às 4 da manhã de Domingo :P) criei-os em feltro cor-de-rosa e acho que resultam bem!
I created a white cloud with fabric and then pasted it on paper musgami layers of different shades of rose-colored (with scissors was giving them a more rounded shape). Beneath all these layers glued a strong card to give structure. I also thought in embroidery the balloons in cross stitch, but as time was running out (I just finished it at 4 am Sunday :P) I created them in pink felt and I think it work well!!!

Também acho que seria engraçado experimentar, colar a ursinha e os balões numa moldura de fotografias...Acho que também resultaria!

Como já tinha contado, a semana passada, andei a trabalhar em seis prendas de Natal que foram entregues este fim-de-semana. Esta, foi a primeira que comecei (aqui), um serviço de chá em crochet para a Rita, de quase dois anos.
As I told before, I was working in six Christmas gifts that were deliver this weekend. This, was the first I began (here), a tea set for Rita, an almost two years old little girl.

Lembram-se de eu ter falado de um projecto para Janeiro, aqui?
Bom, ele está a andar.
Peço desde já desculpa pelas más fotografias mas, nos últimos dias, tem chovido consequentemente e a luz é muito pouca. Não tenho a certeza que se perceba bem mas, um tecido é cor-de-rosa liso e outro cor-de-rosa aos quadrados em fundo branco. AH! e o chão da minha cozinha não é verde, é bege!!

Comecei este blog, com a ideia de ser um organizador dos meus projectos.
Não só consegui esse objectivo como, pelo caminho, tive oportunidade de partilhar experiências e saberes com imensa gente talentosa e fazer amizade com ‘vizinhas’ da bloglândia!
Foi um ano fantástico! E quero agradecer a todas, os vossos comentários, os vossos emails e as vossas dicas. Obrigada!
Já que faz um ano, resolvi que este blog merecia uma mudança de visual. A fotografia de um dos projectos favoritos está agora no cabeçalho, e na minha lista de fantásticos blogs, passaram a estar blogs que costumam aparecer por aqui.
E como balanço do ano gostaria de mostrar alguns dos meus projectos preferidos!
I started this blog with the idea of being an organizer for my projects. Not only did this but in the process, I had the opportunity to share experiences and knowledge with lots of talented people and make friends with "neighbors" of blogland!
It was a fantastic year! And I want to thank all, your comments, your emails and your tips. Thank you!
Since a year past, I decided that this blog deserves a new look. The photograph of one of my favorite projects is now in the header, and on my list of fantastic blogs, you now can see blogs that ppear here often.
And as a balance of the year I would like to show you some of my favorite projects!
O primeiro projecto apresentado, foi o do calendário semanal. É um dos meus favoritos, e da pequena Papgena também, não há quase dia nenhum que ela ao sair da casa não o actualize (e, ando até a planear modificá-lo um pouco) e foi o meu primeiro trabalho citado no Craft Gossip (e é a sua fotografia que está agora no cabeçalho):
The first project presented was the weekly calendar. It's one of my favorites, and also little Papgena's, there is almost no day that she didn't update it (and, I am planning to modify it a little) and it was my first job quoted at Craft Gossip (and it is your photo that is now in the header):

O segundo foi o do aproveitamento de um trabalho de tricot num vestido para a miúda. Ela agora já o veste (eu devia ter-lhe tirado fotografias nesses dias porque fica-lhe tão bem!) e também foi apresentado no Craft Gossip:
The second one was the use of knitting work for a dress to little Papgena. She wears it now (I really should have taken her pictures those days because it looks so good on her!) and was also presented at Craft Gossip:

Adorei o resultado final do meu amigurumi mas, foi uma saga enorme (post 1, post 2 e post 3) ao longo da qual eu aprendi imenso!
I really loved the way my valentine amigurumi turned out but it was a big saga and I learned a lot! (post 1, post 2 and post 3):

Outro projecto que me deu imenso prazer foi o do tapete de actividades para o meu sobrinho (aqui, aqui e aqui) e que o Craft Gossip também mostrou:

No verão resolvi começar a experimentar refazer roupa e um dos meus trabalhos favoritos foi a transformação de uma t-shirt comprida num vestido de verão que o ‘One Pretty Thing’ mostrou:
On Summer I decided to try some clothes refashion, one of my favourites was turning a long t-shirt in a beach dress, and 'One Pretty Thing' thought it was pretty too:

Em primeiro lugar quero agradecer todas as manifestações de carinho pelo meu último post, posso dizer que já me sinto mais em controlo, agora só tenho que melhorar fisicamente.

Hoje quero mostrar mais uma prenda de Natal. Esta foi para o R., um menino de 5 anos.
Numa camisola de mangas compridas apliquei uma 'gravata' (podem encontrar o esquema aqui) e bordei a inicial com ponto corrente:
First let me thank all the affection that you show to me after my last post, I can say that I feel more in control now, I only have to improve physically.

Today I want to show one more Christmas present. This was for R., a 5 years boy.
In a long-sleeved sweater I applied a 'tie' (you can find the pattern here) and embroidered it with the initial in chain point:

Depois fiz uma bolsinha em bombazine castanha, forrada por dentro com o mesmo tecido da gravata:
Than I made a little handbag in a brown fabric, lined with the same fabric that I used in the tie.

Apliquei-lhe um 'R' com uma coisa que encontrei no supermercado e que é muito fixe. Trata-se de uma banda autocolante, que a embalagem indica para fazer bainhas nas calças mas, eu acho que para aplicações também resulta bem. Cortei um bocadinho da banda autocolante e retirei o papel, coloquei a banda em cima da bombazine e o 'R' de tecido por cima, um pano liso por cima disto tudo e o ferro quente, sem parar, sempre em movimento durante cerca de uns 20 segundos, quando se retira o ferro e o pano o tecido já colou.
I applied an 'R', with a sticker band, which I found at the supermarket and that is suitable for making pants' seams. I put a little bit of the sticker band than the 'R', I cover it with a plain cotton cloth and iron, for 20 seconds, without the iron stop, and the 'R' was glue. Very cool!!!

Depois coloquei a camisola dentro da bolsinha, tendo juntado um bloco de actividades e um conjunto de lápis de cor.
I put the sweater in the handbag together with a little book of activities and some color pencil.

Estou a acabar ainda seis prendas de natal. Com tudo o que aconteceu atrasei-me mas, como só irão ser entregues no fim-de-semana de 8 e 9 de Janeiro, pode ser que consiga acabar tudo a tempo, mas só posso mostrá-las depois dessa data (caso as respectivas mamãs leiam este blog).
I still have to finish six Christmas gifts. With everything that happened to me I became late but, as will be delivered only on weekend of 8 and 9 January, I hope I'll be able to finish everything on time, but I can only show them after that date (in case of their moms read this blog).

Afinal.../In the end...

Espero que tenham tido um excelente Natal, o nosso foi passado sob o signo do desapontamento e da preocupação.
A semana passada correu muito mal.
Hope you had a great Christmas, ours was not so great. Last week went very badly.

Na quarta-feira, dia 22 descobrimos que a pequena Papgena tem liquido nos dois ouvidos. O médico disse que a reversão da situação tem que ser feita até Setembro/Outubro do próximo ano ou então terá que ser operada uma vez que a permanência do liquido pode provocar-lhe surdez.
A cachopa nunca teve otites, nem nunca se tinha queixado dos ouvidos. A única razão porque a levamos ao otorrino foi porque, no que toca a ouvidos, eu sou completamente paranóica, venho de uma familia com imensos e graves problemas nos ouvidos. Por isso, a miúda teve um episódio de passar um dia inteiro a queixar-se de dores de ouvidos e eu corri com ela ao médico.
Felizmente!
Descobrimos a tempo mas, os problemas dela não têm nada a ver com a saga da familia, trata-se de um problema só dela, ela respira mal, oxigena pouco os ouvidos e por isso o liquido aparece!
On Wednesday, 22, we found out that the little Papgena has liquid in both ears. The doctor said that the reversal of the situation has to be done by September/October next year or she will be operated once the residence of the liquid can make her deaf.

The kid never had ear infections, and never had complained of hearing. The only reason I took her to the doctrt was because, as far as the ears, I'm completely paranoid. I come from a family with many serious problems in the ears. So the girl had an episode of spending an entire day complaining with pain in the ears and I ran with her to the doctor.
Fortunately!
We find in time, but her problems have nothing to do with the family saga, it's her own problem only, she doesn't breathe well, the oxygen doesn't reach the ears and so the liquid appears!

No dia seguinte, dia 23, foi o dia da minha primeira ecografia. Eu e o Papageno estávamos entusiasmadissimos. O médico, que de empatia humana nada sabe coitado, perguntou-me de quanto tempo estaria, quando tinha sido a última menstruação e começou o exame. À medida que os segundos passavam, ele insistia comigo para saber o tempo que teria, e começou a resmugar que não via nada. O ecran estava fora do meu ângulo de visão por isso eu ia olhando para a cara do Papageno, que ficava cada vez mais sério e o médico sempre a resmungar que não via nada e se eu tinha tido hemorragias (não tinha). Até que no fim me diz, lamento mas as noticias não são boas, a sua gravidez é de um óvulo branco, é melhor ir falar com a sua médica e Feliz Natal!!!

Por isso, afinal não estou grávida! :(
Ou antes o meu corpo está, o saco amniótico foi criado mas...não tem nada!
The next day, 23, was the day of my first ultrasound. Me and Papageno were thrilled. The doctor, who knows nothing of human empathy, poor man, asked me how much time I was and when was the last menstrual period and began the examination. As the seconds passed, he urged me to know what time I was exactly, and mumble that he saw nothing. The screen was out of my angle of vision so I kept looking at Papageno's face, which became increasingly serious and the doctor always grumbling that he saw nothing and if I had bleeding (I didn't). Until the end he said, I am sorry but the news aren't good, your pregnancy is a blinded ovum one, you better go talk to your doctor and Merry Christmas!

So anyway I'm not pregnant! :(
Or rather my body is, the amniotic sac was created ... but it has nothing!

Uma caixa de costura que fiz para a Pequena Papgena.
Muito fácil e rápida!
O que utilizei:
A sewing box that I made to little Papgena.
Very easy and quick.
