A prenda da Joana / Joana’s Gift

Tenho sido uma blogger extremamente ausente, gostaria de dizer que tenho feito imensos trabalhos e que é por isso que não tenho postado mas, a verdade é que julgo que estou a lutar com uma depressão e, para já, ela está a ganhar!
MAS eu tenciono virar o resultado!!!

I've been an extremely absent blogger, I would like to say that I have done lots of work and that is why I have not posted but, the truth is that I think I'm struggling with depression   and, for now, it's winning !
BUT I intend to fight hard!

Hoje vou mostrar a prenda, que enviei à Joana, quando ela nasceu em meados de Abril!
Depois de ter feito a prenda do John e tendo por base a mesma inspiração e os mesmos materiais de começo:
Today, I will show the gift that I sent to Joana when she was born in mid-April!
After having made the gift from John and based on the same inspiration and beginning with the same materials:

uma cruzeta, uma moldura para fotografias, uma t-shirt branca e uma sweatshirt branca para bebé (que me esqueci de incluir na fotografia!) / a hanger, a picture frame, a white t-shirt and a baby's sweatshirt (that I forgot to include in the picture!)

 pensei que a da Joana seriam favas contadas (a teoria da curva de experiência e tal). Bom…estava um pouco enganada!!!
Para começar na camisola em vez de uma gravata (podia ter aplicado uma gravata cor-de-rosa) eu pretendia aplicar um laço cor-de-rosa mas, a verdade é que não consegui nem aplicar uma tira de tecido num laço, nem recortar tecido na forma de um laço que me satisfizessem. Por isso, fui fazendo os outros itens e no final acabei por usar um cortante da sizzix (que já usei aqui e aqui):
I thought that Joana's would be a easy ride (the experience curve theory and all that). Well ... I was a bit wrong!
To start, on the sweater instead of a tie (I could have applied a pink tie) I want to have a big pink bow! But the truth is that I could come up with one that satisfy me. So, I went doing the other items and in the end I got back  to the sweater and ended up using a Sizzix’s die (that I've used here and here):

Relativamente à moldura, a minha ideia era fazer o que fiz com a moldura do John mas, tendo como motivo a menina e o tecido em tons cor-de-rosa.
No entanto, quando acabei de bordar dei-me conta que a menina estava muito chegada á borda e não conseguiria recortar um círculo com ela no centro:
For the frame, my idea was to do what I did with John’s frame but, with the girl’s design in pink fabric.
But, when I finished the embroidery, I realized that the girl was very close to the edge and I couldn’t cut a circle with it in the center:



Dir-me-ão que poderia ter bordado outra mas, em primeiro lugar eu sou um bocado preguiçosa e por outro, a minha data limite estava mesmo, mesmo aí!
Em vez disso, resolvi transformá-la numa boneca tridimensional (utilizando nas costas o mesmo tecido que utilizei na camisola):
Obviously I could embroidery it again but, first I’m a bit lazy and on the other, my deadline was really, really there!
Instead, I decided to turn it into a three dimensional doll (I used, on the back, the same fabric as used in the sweater):





Achei que desta forma a moldura estava vazia pelo que resolvi fazer 3 flores com tiras de tecido e aplicar no lado oposto.
I thought this way the frame was empty so I decided to make 3 fabric strips flowers and apply on the opposite side:



Ao colar as flores ficou um espaço vazio maior do que eu pretendia mas, um botão em forma de coração rapidamente resolveu o assunto. E botões forrados colados no centro de cada uma das flores deram um toque final:
When gluing the flowers there was a bigger space than I intended, but a heart-shaped button quickly solved the issue and fabric covered buttons give the final touch:



E aqui está a moldura com o seu aspecto final:

E gosto mais!!! (se bem que a ideia não seria tão gira para um menino).
And I like it better! (althought it wouldn’t work for a boy).


Quanto ao gorro e à cruzeta fiz exactamente o mesmo que para o John, só tendo em atenção às cores escolhidas (tudo cor-de-rosa  claro!!!):
As for the the top knot baby hat and the hanger, I did exactly as in the John’s gift only paying attention to the colors (all in pink obviously!)

O presente do John / John’s Gift

Olá a todos!!!
Finalmente voltei ao convívio virtual. As dificuldades técnicas levaram mais tempo a resolver do que eu estava à espera e entretanto, a vida real e de todos os dias foi-se metendo e eu sem poder aparecer.
Mas hoje está a chover, parece mesmo um dia de inverno por isso, nada como um dia em casa, de pijama e a pôr a ‘conversa a dia’!

I finally got back to the virtual world. Technical difficulties took longer to resolve than I expected and real life was getting in the way so I was unable to appear.
But today it's raining, looks like a winter day so nothing like a day at home in your pajamas and have a good chat!

 

Talvez se lembrem que em Fevereiro eu postei sobre os trabalhos que tinha em mãos e falei das prendas para dois bebés.
Então hoje vamos começar pelo John, que nasceu em final de Fevereiro? principio de Março? (é uma vergonha mas já não me lembro bem! Não leves a mal Lilia!).
Para a prenda do John eu comecei com isto:

You may recall that in February I posted about the works I was doing and in particular of gifts for two babies.
So, today let's start with John, who was born in late February? beginning of March? (It's a shame but I don’t remember!! Lilia please don’t take this the wrong way!).
For John’s gift I started with this:

uma cruzeta, uma moldura para fotografias, uma t-shirt branca e uma sweatshirt branca para bebé (que me esqueci de incluir na fotografia!) / a hanger, a picture frame, a white t-shirt and a baby's sweatshirt (that I forgot to include in the picture!)

Em Fevereiro, no Lark Crafts tinha havido uma série para bordar, em que eu não pude participar mas, que foi a inspiração para a prenda do John (e da Joana também como irão ver).
In February, in Lark Crafts was post a Doodle Stitch Along  that I could not participate, but that was the inspiration for John’s gift (and Joana’s too as you will see!!!).

bordei o motivo 2 em grande em pequeno e um dos cogumelos do motivo 3 / I embroidered motif # 2 in both sizes and one fo the mushrooms from motif #3

Para a sweatshirt usei a mesma ideia desta prenda de Natal. Para a gravata utilizei o mesmo tecido que tinha usado para os bordados, bordei o monograma e um cogumelo do motivo 3:
For the sweatshirt I used the same idea of this Christmas’ present. For the tie I used the same fabric as was sused for embroidery, I embroidered a monogram and a mushroom from motif 3:



Com a t-shirt branca e utilizando este tutorial construi um gorro que embelezei com outro cogumelo:

depois de bordar, recortei um círculo e coloquei-o sobre um círculo de feltro azul / I cut a circle, after embroidered, and placed it on a larger circle of blue felt

Quanto à cruzeta, com linha azul e agulha de crochet, cobri-a toda e utilizei o bordado mais pequeno do rapaz para embelezar:
As to the hanger, with blue yarn and a crochet needle, I cover it all and used the smallest embroidery boy to embellish it:

Por fim, para a moldura reservei o bordado maior do rapaz:

Quilt Mistério (presente) / Mistery Quilt (today)

Ora bem, eu tinha prometido que mostrava em que ponto o quilt mistério está, não tinha??
Peço desculpa pela demora, a vidinha de todos os dias tem interferido bastante com este blog!!

Na página 22 as instruções mandam juntar todas as filas que fizemos anteriormente e finalmente temos uma noção de como ficará!
O que falta é juntar tiras a emoldurar este motivo central. E ainda não avancei por dois motivos: o primeiro é que tenho que arranjar essas tiras nas cores recomendadas (talvez vá desmanchar umas camisas de homem para isso) o segundo, é que como já vi o quilt final sei que estes dois triângulos vermelhos da esquerda (fotografia abaixo) deviam sobressair mais e, neste momento isso não acontece porque ao lado tenho um conjunto que devia ser bege e verde e que é bege e vermelho (porque na altura não tinha tecido verde. Estou, por isso, extremamente tentada em desmanchar e voltar a fazer!!
O que acham?
On page 22 the instructions say to sew all the lines, that we did before, together and we finally have an idea of ​​how it’ll look!
What is missing is joining strips to frame this central motif.
I didn’t do it yet for two reasons: the first is that I have to get these strips in the recommended colors (I might be cutting up some manshirts to do it) the second is, that as I already saw the final quilt, I know these two red triangles on the left (pictured below) should stand out more, and that doesn’t happen now because I have a set that should be beige and green and that is beige and red (because at the time I hadn’t green fabric). I am so sorely tempted to re-do that section!

PS – como disse, no principio deste post, a vidinha de todos os dias tem prejudicado bastante o tempo e a disposição para me ligar online, cuidar deste blog e visitar todos os outros. Nas próximas duas semanas também vou ficar sem ligação à internet por isso, o que espero que aconteça é conseguir utilizar algum tempo para preparar posts que possa publicar mal a minha internet volte!

As I said, at the beginning of this post, daily life has been taking my time and willingness to connect me online, take care of this blog and visit all the others. In the next two weeks I also will be without internet connection… so, what I hope is that I’ll be able to use some time to prepare posts so I can publish them as my internet connection will be back!
