Well, this entry should have been published last Sunday and it would be call Happy Mother's day (here, in Portugal, mother’s day is on the first Sunday of May)!
The truth is, that I started writing it on the previous Thursday but, as you can see, I didn’t finished it!
Lately, it has been difficult for me to fulfill my deadlines!
So, I’ll show you the little gift I made for my mother (I hope you all had/will have a great mother’s day!)
So, I decided to make a cover for her to carry a book (or two or three).
I cut the back of the shirt greater than the book and leaving space in order to turn the edges |
Margens já viradas e cozidas (só nas extremidades) / Edges turned and sewed on the top and the botom |
Usei este esquema / I used this pattern |
Close up |
I only remember to make the appliqué after I sewed the pocket! Much more difficult! |
Apliquei uma rendinha a toda a volta / I sewed lace all around it |
Cozi um botão metálico, em forma de coração, em cima de um botão redondo, cor-de-rosa / I sewed an heart shape metalic button on the top of a round pink one. |
I sewed the button with thin elastic having left a loop in order to 'grab' the other button |
I forgot to take a picture with the book closed! |
I love the result! I’ll have to do one for me, one of these days!!
What a very clever use of the old sweaters and what a lovely result too. Well done!! I bet your mum loved it on Mother's Day.

EliminarI really like it how it looks!
The only gifts my mother is quick to say that she likes are her grandchildren's pictures so, I don't know if she like this one, hope she did!! :)

Thank you!
EliminarYou know, I like the trim too!! :)
I don't know if it's clear but, comparing the picture, where is only
the applique, and the one with the trim, I think that's a huge
difference between the two! The look is more appealing! And yet it's
just a little trim, a little detail...
Great job. It turned out so pretty.
