Semeie…uma revista!/Plant…a magazine!

 

Na semana passada, a revista ‘Sábado’ teve uma edição especial.

A capa, que a revista trazia, era feita de um papel impregnado de sementes!

Last week, the periodical magazine ‘Sábado’ had a special issue.

It’s cover was made of a paper impregnated with seeds!

A ideia era ‘plantar’ a revista!

Seguindo as instruções da revista devíamos colocá-la em água durante 2 ou 3 dias, antes de a plantar.

The all idea was to ‘plant’  the magazine!

Following the magazine’s instructions, we should put it in water, for 2 or 3 days, before planting.

 

Claro, que os miúdos participaram em todo o processo e essa foi a parte mais divertida!

Primeiro sentiram bem a capa e compararam a textura dos dois tipos de papel.

Depois dobraram a capa, puseram-na em água e ela não se desfez! Maravilhamento!

E por fim, ajudaram a cavar um buraquinho para plantar a revista!

Divertimento total!

The most fun was get the kids participated in the whole process.

First they felt really well the magazine’s cover and compared it with others of normal paper.

Then, they fold the paper and put it in water and it didn’t felt apart! Amazing!

Finally, they helped dig a hole to plant the magazine!

Total fun!

Agora, teremos que esperar 6 a 7 semanas, segundo a revista, para ver nascer relva e flores silvestres.

Mal podemos esperar!

Now we have to wait 6/7 weeks, according to the magazine, that the grasse and the wildflowers start to grow.

We are waintig eagerly!

Crescerão? / Will they grow?

Hoje comprei no ( I bought today on ) Lidl:

Framboesa , Mirtilo e Amora

Raspberry , Blueberry and  Mulberry

 

Já plantadas na 'horta' (a foto está muito escura porque já passava das 19h). Também lá está um cacto ENORME Aloé Vera, alface, salsa, pés de morangueiro, uma couve e hortelã. Nada mal para um caixote!

Already planted in the 'garden' (the photo is too dark because it was after 19h). Also there is a HUGE Aloe Vera cactus, lettuce, parsley, strawberry feet, a cabbage and mint. Not bad for a crate!

E olhem para o meu vaso das cenouras! Eu e a pequena Papgena estamos muito orgulhosas dele!

É a primeira vez que ambas assistimos ao crescimento de cenouras. Achamos que a rama é lindissima...

And look at my carrots' pot! Little Papgena and I very proud of it!

It is the first time that both of us have witnessed the growth of carrots. We think the foliage is very beautiful ...

PS - Não se admirem das mudanças de visual do blog. Descobri as novas formatações do Blogger e tenho andado a experimentar. Não tenho a certeza se já encontrei o 'look' certo!

Noticias do meu Jardim/News from my garden

O meu marido resolveu fazer uma casa nova para a nossa tartaruga. Com tábuas de madeira cobertas por um plástico resistente, fez-lhe uma espécie de charco, com uma rampa para ela poder trepar para a sua 'esplanada'!
E acrescentou uma espécie de guarda-sol!
Ela parece gostar!!!

My husband decided to make a new home for our turtle.
With planks of wood covered with a durable plastic, he made sort of marsh, with a ramp so could climb to its ‘esplanade’'! He even added a kind of umbrella for shadow!
I think the turtle like it!

Jardinagem/Gardening

Este fim-de-semana, esteve um sol lindo e por isso, no sábado, decidi tratar do meu jardim que estava em muito mau estado:
This weekend, was a gorgeous sun and so, on suturday, I decided to go outside and gardening because it was a mess:

Percebem o que eu quero dizer?
Com estes meses de chuva contínua as minhas plantas ficaram com este aspecto horroroso.
O vaso grande é de cravos, o vaso grande com uma estaca foi de um feijoeiro, um projecto do ano passado, combinado com a creche, para a miúda ver crescer as plantas.
Os outros vasos, tinham rótulos a dizer o que eram mas, já não se lê nada!
Por isso, o que fizemos foi esvaziar todos os vasos da terra ensopada e cheia de raízes. Os cravos foram realojados no mesmo vaso mas, com uma mistura de terra diferente.
Entretanto, tinha uma caixa plástica rectangular que costumava ser o aquário da tartaruga cá de casa. No entanto, achamos por bem comprar um maior, a bichinha tem crescido e tinha essa caixa parada.
Assim, pedi ao mais-que-tudo que fizesse vários buraquitos ao longo dos lados maiores (eu e o berbequim não temos uma boa relação):

In these months of continuous rain my plants were with this horrific aspect.
The large vessel has carnations; the large vessel, with a stick, was a bean, a project, last year, with the day-care, so the kid could watch the plants grow.
The other vessels had labels, saying what they were, but fade away!
So what we did was to empty all the vessels of soaked and full of roots’ earth. The carnations were relocated in the same vessel but with a mixture of different land.
I had a rectangular plastic box that used to be our turtle’s aquarium. However, we thought it was better to buy a larger one, because he has grown and this box was empty.
So, I asked my husband to made several little holes along the long sides (the drill and I do not have a good relationship):
Enchi com terra e, em filas paralelas, eu e a pequena plantamos/semeamos (sou uma moça da cidade, nunca sei qual é a palavra adequada), cebolas, manjericão, tomates, cenouras e umas flores.
Para não me esquecer do que vai estar na terra, peguei nos frascos que vou guardando (e que já tiveram compotas, azeitonas, café, etc) e coloquei lá dentro as embalagens das sementes.
Depois colei com fita de pintor à caixa. Mas, não gostei nada do aspecto e, ainda por cima, a fita acabou antes de os colar todos!!!
I filled it with earth and in parallel rows; me and my daughter, put seeds of onions, basil, tomatoes, carrots and flowers.
In order that we don’t forget what will be on the ground, I took the jars that I'll keep (and that used to have jam, olives, coffee, etc.) and placed inside, the packaging of seeds.
Then, I try to stick them to the box with tape. But I didn’t like how it looks and on top of that, the tape ended it just before I could stick all the jars!

Por isso, no domingo, descolei os frascos todos e resolvi usar a pistola de cola quente. Ficou com um aspecto muito mais limpo e arrumadinho:
So on Sunday, I took off all the jars and decided to use the hot glue gun.

gora é só esperar que a natureza faça crescer as plantinhas! Assim como descobrir se a cola quente vai resistir à passagem do tempo e das estações mas, para já, o meu jardim ficou muito mais bonito e apresentável!!!! :)
Now we're waiting for nature to make the plants grow! And we'll find out if the hot glue will withstand the test of time and seasons, but for now, my garden is so much more beautiful and pleasent!! :)
