Quilt Mistério (presente) / Mistery Quilt (today)

Ora bem, eu tinha prometido que mostrava em que ponto o quilt mistério está, não tinha??
Peço desculpa pela demora, a vidinha de todos os dias tem interferido bastante com este blog!!

Na página 22 as instruções mandam juntar todas as filas que fizemos anteriormente e finalmente temos uma noção de como ficará!
O que falta é juntar tiras a emoldurar este motivo central. E ainda não avancei por dois motivos: o primeiro é que tenho que arranjar essas tiras nas cores recomendadas (talvez vá desmanchar umas camisas de homem para isso) o segundo, é que como já vi o quilt final sei que estes dois triângulos vermelhos da esquerda (fotografia abaixo) deviam sobressair mais e, neste momento isso não acontece porque ao lado tenho um conjunto que devia ser bege e verde e que é bege e vermelho (porque na altura não tinha tecido verde. Estou, por isso, extremamente tentada em desmanchar e voltar a fazer!!
O que acham?
On page 22 the instructions say to sew all the lines, that we did before, together and we finally have an idea of ​​how it’ll look!
What is missing is joining strips to frame this central motif.
I didn’t do it yet for two reasons: the first is that I have to get these strips in the recommended colors (I might be cutting up some manshirts to do it) the second is, that as I already saw the final quilt, I know these two red triangles on the left (pictured below) should stand out more, and that doesn’t happen now because I have a set that should be beige and green and that is beige and red (because at the time I hadn’t green fabric). I am so sorely tempted to re-do that section!

PS – como disse, no principio deste post, a vidinha de todos os dias tem prejudicado bastante o tempo e a disposição para me ligar online, cuidar deste blog e visitar todos os outros. Nas próximas duas semanas também vou ficar sem ligação à internet por isso, o que espero que aconteça é conseguir utilizar algum tempo para preparar posts que possa publicar mal a minha internet volte!

As I said, at the beginning of this post, daily life has been taking my time and willingness to connect me online, take care of this blog and visit all the others. In the next two weeks I also will be without internet connection… so, what I hope is that I’ll be able to use some time to prepare posts so I can publish them as my internet connection will be back!

Outra vez o Quilt Mistério / The Mistery Quilt returns!

No site Erik Homemade as instruções para o quilt mistério já terminaram! Até já começaram uma nova série, o Quilt Susannah, (estou a guardar todas as páginas porque sei que vou querer fazê-lo mas, agora é impossivel em termos de tempo!).
Resolvi lançar-me ao trabalho, e embora ainda não o tenha acabado (são 29 páginas e só cheguei à 22ª), dei-lhe um adianto!
Erik Homemade’s site has published the Quilt Mistery’s last page (29th) and they started a new one, the Susannah Quilt (I’ve been save the pages for future use), I didn’t finished it yet but I went until page 22.

Estas tiras foram unidas de forma a conseguir 2 rectângulos de 5 tiras cada um e na pág. 18 era necessário cortá-los de forma a fazer quadrados em que metade fossem beges e metade vermelhos às tiras. Mas não tenho fotografias porque me esqueci completamente de as tirar!
These strips were sew together (five each) to make 2 larger strips and then in the 18th page we use them and beige fabric to make half-squares triangles. But I completely forgotten to take pictures!

9ª página quilt mistério / 9th page mystery quilt

Na segunda-feira saiu a 9ª página de instruções do quilt mistério. Era necessário cortar 4 quadrados de 15 cm do tecido branco/beige:
On Monday was release the mystery quilt's 9th page of instructions.

It was necessary to cut 4 squares of 15 cm from the white/beige fabric:

E cozer os rectângulos da semana passada em 2 tiras de 8 rectângulos cada:

E já que estava com o cortador circular na mão, resolvi entreter-me e cortei 20 quadrados de dois tecidos cor-de-rosa:

8ª Página do Quilt Mistério / Mystery Quilt's 8th Page

Hoje saiu a 8ª página e era super simples: tinhamos que cortar 16 rectangulos de 2 polegadas por 6,5 polegadas, do tecido bege/branco. Fazendo os cálculos daria: 5,08 cm por 16,51 cm. Por isso, simplificando, decidi cortá-los com a medida de 5cm por 15 cm:

Today, the 8th page was released and the only thing to do was cut 16 rectangles with 2 inch * 6,5 inch of our beige/white fabric. So, I did my math and it would be 5,08 cm * 16,51 cm. I simplified to 5 cm * 15 cm:

Peço desculpa da qualidade da fotografia mas, já foi tirada depois das 10 da noite por isso, a luz  não era muita. Eu deveria ter acabado um relatório hoje, se eu amanhã disser ao meu chefe que a culpa foi da lua azul, ele acreditará??

I'm very sorry for the picture poor quality but it was taken way past 10 pm so the light was poor. I should finished a report today, do you think it will be ok telling my boss it was the blue moon's fault?

5ª Página Quilt Mistério / Mystery Quilt's 5th Page

Ontem saiu a 5ª página de instruções do quilt mistério.

Mas antes de vos mostrar, quero dizer-vos que, relativamente ao passo anterior, resolvi mesmo modificar os tecidos. Desta  forma os quadrados da semana passada têm, agora,  este aspecto:

A new page of Mystery Quilt was released yesterday, but before I show you that, I want to show you the squares of the previous weeek. They look like this, now:

Esta semana, era necessário pegar em 12 quadrados das primeiras instruções e agrupá-los aos pares de forma a fazer um V (e foi ao ver as instruções desta semana, que resolvi modificar os quadrados anteriores, é que desta forma ficam padrões alternados e da outra não):

This week we pick up 12 squares from the first week and join them into pairs, forming a V shape (that's why I changed the fabric on the previous squares, I understand that is important several fabrics to make differents shapes):

I finish the Wheel of Time's 7th book! I'm trying to resist on starting the 8th tonight. I know I won't sleep much if I do that. Must to wait for tomorrow's lunch break!

4º Passo do Quilt Mistério/ 4th Step of Mystery Quilt

Ontem saiu a 4ª página de instruções do quilt mistério.
Muito simples: cortar 6 quadrados verdes e juntá-los 2 a 2.
Como eu pensava que não tinha mais tecido verde utilizei este:
Yesterday was published the Mystery quilt’s 4th page of instructions.

Very simple: cut 6 squares of green fabric and join them in 3 groups of 2. As I thought I did not have any more green fabric, I used this:

Entretanto, depois de ter feito isto, andei nos meus tecidos, à procura de outra coisa para outro projecto, e descobri este:
After I did that, I was searching on my stash for other fabric to another project and I found this:

Agora não sei o que fazer, sinceramente, se corto 3 quadrados e faço par com 3 das estrelas, se deixo estar e aguardo por mais instruções porque pode ser preciso mais tecido verde! Que acham?
So now I’m with a doubt: do I cut 3 squares from this fabric and join them to 3 squares of the star fabric or I leave as it is and wait because, maybe it will be necessary for other step??

3º Passo Quilt Mistério / Third Step Mystery Quilt

Ontem foi publicada mais uma página de instruções do quilt mistério de natal.
Desta vez cortei 15 quadrados, de 15 cm de tecido bege ou branco. O tecido bege que tinha usado nos passos anteriores só deu para mais 6 quadrados por isso, rebusquei e encontrei um branco com flores azuis e vermelhas (por acaso muito giro e que vou ver se uso para outras coisas também, ainda tenho um bocado bastante grande).
Yesterday was published another page of the Christmas mystery quilt.
This time I had to cut 15 squares, of 15 cm, of beige or white fabric. My beige fabric, that I use on the previous steps only gave me 6 squares, so I went to my stash and choose a white fabric with little red and blue flowers (actually, I think it’s very beautiful and I probably use it for other things, I have a big piece of it yet):

Depois cozi tês filas, de quatro quadrados alternados, cada uma. Restaram 3 quadrados.
E estou pronta para as instruções da próxima semana!
I than sew four squares, alternated, in a row. I sew three of these rows. I was left with 3 squares.
And I’m ready for next week instructions!

Nas instruções as medidas estão todas em polegadas. Como eu me entendo é com centímetros, andei a fazer a respectiva conversão.
Nas instruções da semana anterior, os quadrados teriam que ter 17,4625 cm e nas desta semana, os quadrados teriam que ter 16,51 cm. Estas seriam umas medidas esquisitas para cortar por isso, como tenho uma régua quadrada de 15 cm, resolvi simplificar e cortar todos os quadrados com essa medida. Espero que isso só afecte o tamanho final e mais nada. Vamos lá ver como corre!!!
In the instructions all the measures are in inches. That is not how work, I like centimetres. So, I did the math and I found out that last week squares should be 17,4625 cm and these week squares should be 16,51 cm. That will be very difficult to cut, as I have a square ruler of 15 cm, I decided to cut all the squares with that size.
Hopefully, it will only affect the final size of the quilt!

Mais um item na lista / Another item in the list

Como se não tivesse já projectos suficientes na lista de coisas que quero fazer, o blog Erik Homemade  começou uma série a que chamou: Quilt Mistério de Natal 2010!

Aquele blog já tinha organizado um outro, que eu já apanhei a meio e que por isso, com pena, não o iniciei.

Assim, quando o blog anunciou o quilt de Natal não resisti!!!

Serão precisos tecidos em cores branca/bege, verde e vermelha e vasculhando bem no meu sortido acho que tenho o material suficiente!

As instruções serão publicadas às segundas-feiras, e já saíram duas páginas.

Ontem, cortei os 12 quadrados do tecido bege relativos à primeira página (utilizei quadrados de 15 cm):

I have a huge to-do-list but, the Erik Homemade blog started the Mystery Christmas Quilt 2010!

They already had organized another mystery quilt this year but, sadly, I only discover it when it was in the middle so, I couldn’t play along but when they announced the Christmas quilt I decided I was joining!!

They say that we will need fabric scraps in the colours white/beige, red and green and I think I can managed that! So, yesterday I cut 12 squares, 15 cm each, of the beige fabric:

E cortei os 14 quadrados, de 15 cm, do tecido verde. Neste caso, o tecido verde só deu para 5 quadrados por isso, juntei-lhe um tecido com uns bonecos de neve (apesar de ter um fundo azul, tem apontamentos verdes no cachecol do boneco) que deu 6 quadrados e juntei-lhe mais 3 quadrados de um tecido com motivos relativos ao cântico de Natal ‘12 presentes antes do Natal’ e que será o meu tecido vermelho mas, cortei uma parte em que se vê muito verde (a minha ideia é fazer o projecto sem gastar dinheiro, utilizar o que tenho):

And I cut 14 squares, also with 15 cm, of the green fabric. In this case I didn’t have enough green fabric (I was just able to get 5 squares) so, I used a blue fabric with snowmen that has little points of green (I cut 6 squares) and cut more 3 squares from a fabric with the ’12 gifts before Christmas’ theme that actually is my red fabric but I cut where there is a lot of green! (I don’t want to spend any money, with this project, I want to use what I have already):

Depois, seguindo a 2ª página de instruções, tracei um risco na diagonal no tecido bege (no avesso) e colocando direito com direito (bege/verde) cozi uma costura de cada lado desse risco (e descobri que, alinhando o lado do calcador com o risco, faço uma costura direitinha de 0,5 cm!!! Fantástico! Provavelmente é de conhecimento geral mas, eu fiquei toda satisfeita com a minha descoberta por isso, não me tirem as ilusões!!!):

Then, following the second page of the instructions, I draw a diagonal across each beige square put each of beige square on top of one green square, right sides together. I sew on each side of the drawn line (and I discover that if I align the side of machine foot with the draw line I get a 0,5 cm seam!! Amazing! Probably that is common knowledge but be kind with me!!).

Depois cortei cada quadrado por aquela diagonal e obtive 24 quadrados metade beges e metade verdes. Em seguida, eu e a pequena papgena entretivemo-nos a espalhá-los no chão.

Then I cut along the drawn line and got a total of 24 squares half beige half green.

Next me and little papgena play around, on the floor, with all the squares.

E arranjei uma caixa para guardar o novo projecto. A próxima página de instruções sai na segunda-feira e eu já estou pronta! Fantástico!!!

And now I have a box for my latest project. Next page will be release on Monday and I’m ready to go! Amazing!!!
