My daughter loves this book! She received it, when she was 2, from her grandparents, and then, for two months, it was the story she wanted to read every night before bed. After that, it’s a book that we read always with great pleasure.
The book is in fact a lot of fun, the illustrations are magnificent and it’s possible to exploit it in different ways (as you have noticed isn’t only the little girl who has fun with it!).

Now, this was one of the books selected by little Papgena for our book’s advent calendar and it was unwrapped one week before Christmas. And when I was reading it, I suddenly remembered that it would be really cool to be able to transport the bed, dolls, blankets and pads from paper to 3 dimensions.
And so little Papgena’s Christmas gift, the only handmade Christmas’ gift that I made this year, was born. And I can say with great pleasure that the gift was greatly appreciated!!!!
I don’t have a tutorial for the finger puppets (they were made at night, in secret) but I can tell you that for the basic shapes I used this link (as in this post). For customization of each doll, I inspired myself in the pictures of the book and the ones on these links: the hedgehog, the sheep and the crocodile. I use felt and I embroidery the face’s details.
If you have any doubts please feel free to ask!
Começamos com o rapazinho /So we start with the little boy:
o coelho / the rabbit:
o crocodilo / the crocodile:
a elefanta / the lady elephant:
zebra:
toda feita em feltro, cozi pequenos bocados pretos por cima da base branca / it's made in felt. I sew little bits of black felt on the top of the white base |
a ovelha / the sheep:
e o rato / the mouse:
E todos juntos / And all together:
No próximo post mostro como fiz a cama!
Next post I’ll show how I make the bed!
PS1 – Dados do livro: ‘Dez numa cama’ – titulo original: ‘ Ten in the bed’ – autor: Penny Dale – Edições ASA – ISBN: 972-41-1109-1
Thanks for all the votes for the birth of the little Panda. We are great, I’m recovering and he is growing!
The only thing that may worry him is to 'put up' so much kisses and hugs from the older sister and parents!

Oh, this is an amazing project! There was an identical project going on in the blogosphere, about crafting something from favorite books. I think you've done a fantastic job and that reading the book is a totally new and exciting experience!
ResponderEliminarThank you! It sure was fun to make!
EliminarAnd it's been fun to read and stage the book with my daughter!
What a fabulous idea. I love your finger puppets! We also used Christmas books as part of our advent this year. My kids loved it.
ResponderEliminarThank you! It was fun make them!! And it's also fun playing with them. I mean, seeing my daughter playing with them! ;)
EliminarWhat a great idea, I love this. It can be done with any children's book. This is a very cool gift for a little one. They'll love the book even more.
ResponderEliminarIt's so nice to be back to Blogland, after I've been gone for so long. You were gone a while too, I'm glad you're back.
You are actually right about it being harder to take care of parents, I just didn't want to upset any of my brothers and sisters so I kept it very minimal. But the truth is, yes it's extremely hard because we are having to deal with things like alzheimer's and diabetes, along with other things.
Yes, I think it can be done with any book, and it's also a lot of fun come up with the puppets to the 3 dimension! ;)
EliminarMy pregnancie was so stressful that in the first 6 months I was allways really down!
Depression doesn't do good for inspiration! or productivity or comunication either! :P
Fortunatly, little panda is a really healthy and perfect little baby so, I will get my good mood again! :)
I'm so sorry for your parents' health problems, they are really distressful especially alzheimer's!!
Such a cute idea! Thanks for sharing at Thursday's Temptation!
