Boneca Dupla #1/ Double Doll #1

Agosto veio e já foi! Um mês com a pequena Papgena doente!

August has come and gone! Little Papgena was sick all month!

Primeiro teve varicela depois, foi operada para retirar as amígdalas, adenoides e aspirar o liquido nos ouvidos.

Berrou com dores uma semana a fio, nenhum dos medicamentos lhe dava alivio por mais de 2 horas de cada vez, e nós impotentes, não podíamos fazer nada!

First she had chickenpox and then, she was operated to remove the tonsils, adenoids and aspiration of fluid in the ears.

She had a terrible postoperative, screamed in pain for an all week, none of the drugs, that the doctots gave her, relief the pain for more than 2 hours at a time, and we could do nothing!

Felizmente já recuperou; perdeu um quilo e meio (que é muito porque antes da operação ela só pesava 19,5 kg) e agora temos tentado incentivá-la a comer (nada fácil porque é uma actividade que ela detesta)!

Fortunately she already recovered; she lost 1,5 kg (which is a lot because before the operation she weighed only 19.5 kg) and now we have tried to encourage her to eat (not easy because it’s an activity which she hates)!

Setembro começou com o pequeno panda a ter a sua primeira virose!

Primeiro teve temperaturas quase nos 40º, depois, durante dois dias, sempre nos 35º.

September began with the little panda having his first viral!

First he had temperatures nearly 40º, then for two days, always on 35º.

O meu pai anda com muitas dores numa perna que o impossibilita de andar, várias pessoas da família alargada estão com problemas de saúde (uns mais graves que outros) e o meu irmão teve um acidente de automóvel (felizmente foi só chapa!).

My dad has having great pain on the right leg that makes it impossible for him to walk, several people of the extended family are with health problems (some more serious than others) and my brother had a car accident (luckily only the car had damages!).

Adorei o livro e as suas fotografias alegres e coloridas ajudaram-me a ultrapassar alguns momentos bem complicados (podem ler aqui).

Uma das bonecas que me logo chamaram a atenção é a que está na capa, com trancinhas laranjas (a autora chama-lhe Margot e as instruções estão na página 25). É uma boneca dupla pois, quando se puxa o vestido, outra boneca aparece!

Em Setembro, a Catarina (a menina desta prenda) fazia um ano e era também baptizada por isso, utilizei esse acontecimento como incentivo para começar a boneca (escusado será dizer que não lha consegui oferecer em Setembro, a boneca só ficou pronta em Novembro!!).

Como sabia que a pequena papgena também ia querer uma, comecei duas bonecas.

I loved the book and it’s colorful pictures helped me to overcome some tricky moments as well (you can read it here).

One of the dolls, that immediately drew my attention, was the one on the cover, with orange braiding hair (her name is Margot and appears on 25th page). It's a double doll, when you pull the dress another doll appears!

In September, Catarina (who I made ​​this gift for Christmas) would have her first birthday and be baptized also so, I used these events as an incentive to start (needless to say I didn’t finish in time, the doll was completed only in November!).

I knew little Papgena would want one too so, I made two dolls.

decidi que a boneca teria um lado acordado, vestida para sair , e do outro estaria a dormir  vestida com uma camisa de dormir / I decide that on one side the doll would be awake and ready to play and,  on the other she would be sleeping with a nightdress

Escolhi um tecido com fundo branco e ramagens azuis e vermelhas para o vestido de sair das duas bonecas e um tecido liso azul para a camisa de dormir da boneca da pequena Papgena e um tecido liso cor-de-rosa para a boneca da Catarina / I choose a white fabric with red and blue flowers for the dolls' dresses and a blue one for little Papgena's doll's nightdress and a pink one for Catarina's

parte de cima da camisa de noite da boneca da Catarina: apliquei renda, 3 laços cor-de-rosa e bordei a cor-de-rosa com ponto pé-de-flor a inicial / top of  Catarina's doll's nightdress: I sew lace on the collar and on the sleeves' ends, I sew 3 pink ribbons and embroidery the inital with pink floss and stem stitch

para o vestido de sair apliquei uma fita cor-de-rosa no decote, fita grega vermelha  na cintura e na parte de baixo e 3 flores de tecido a fingir botões / For the dress I sew a light pink ribon on the collar, some red ric-rac on the waiste and  on the end of the dress and 3 fabric flowers on the centre as pretend buttons

também bordei a inicial, em ponto pé-de-flor, a vermelho / I also embroidery the initial with red floss and stem stitch

quando se puxa o vestido para baixo... / than when we pull the dress...

na parte de cima da cabeça (lado acordado) cozi uma fita com flores (as mesmas que usei para botões) a imitar uma bandolete / on the top of the doll's head (awake side) I sew a flower ribbon (the same that I use for the buttons) as an headband

no fim de se puxar...há uma outra boneca /when you pull the dress to the end... there's a new doll

que está a dormir, vestida com uma camisa de noite / that is sleeping on her nightdress

Tinha pensado mostrar a boneca da pequena Papgena neste post mas, como já vai longo, é melhor mostrar essas fotografias num outro!

I had thought to share little Papgena’s doll on this post but, as it would make this post too long, I’ll to show it on another one!

Como oferecer PDF’s / How to give PDF’s Files

 

No ano passado, para o meu aniversário, a minha lista apenas incluía livros em formato digital e diversos esquemas em pdf’s (eu ando a tentar reduzir os livros em termos físicos mas, essa é uma matéria para outro post).

O meu irmão e o meu marido não tiveram qualquer dificuldade com isso mas, dos meus amigos, apenas a C. percebeu! (alguns andaram mesmo pelas livrarias à procura!!).

Não sei bem como interpretar isso: sou eu que estou à frente, ou sou mesmo estranha?!!

Last year, for my birthday, my list only included books in digital format and various pdf's patterns (I've been trying to reduce the physical books but, that is a subject for another post).

My brother and my husband had no difficulty with that, but my friends had and only C. understood what to buy! (some even walked in the bookstores looking!).

I'm not sure if this means I'm ahead of them or that I am really strange!

Mas, como estava a dizer, a C. percebeu e comprou um dos pdf’s. Mas, depois ficou mesmo atrapalhada e ligou-me a perguntar: mas como é que te ofereço um pdf??

Bom, imediatamente eu, o meu marido e o marido dela, respondemos logo: por email!!

But as I was saying, C. realized it and bought one of the pdf's patterns. But, then became flustered and even called me to ask: how do I offer a PDF?
Well, me, my husband and her husband, we all answer promptly: by email!

Mas, ela não ficou satisfeita e resolveu que se é para oferecer um pdf então há que fazê-lo com estilo!!

E então mandou imprimir o pdf e encaderná-lo!

But she was not happy with that and decided that if it is to give a pdf then we must do it with style!
And then she sent to print the pdf and bind it!

E ainda se lembrou de incluir, na encadernação, uma bolsa transparente para eu poder guardar os moldes!

She even remembers to include, in the binder, a transparent case so I can keep the pattern’s pieces!

Digam lá que não está fantástico!
Ora a C. fez anos neste mês de Maio que passou e eu resolvi surpreendê-la com uma boneca cogumelo, do molde que ela me tinha oferecido!

C.’s birthday was last month and I decided to surprise her with a mushroom doll from the pattern that she had offered!

Como achei que o cogumelo tinha poucas rosas /  I thought that the mushroom cap didn't have enough roses

 

Cortei rosas e apliquei-as  no tecido até ficar mais cheio / So I cut roses and  glue them to the fabric

Bordando depois a toda a volta a ponto de recorte / Then I did the buttonhole stitch around it 

Segui as indicações do pdf e cá está a boneca, meia cheia, de frente / after follow all the instructions - half  stuffed - front

e de trás / back

E já totalmente forrada - de frente / Tottally stuffed - front

E vamos vesti-la! Usei os restos de um vestido da pequena Papgena  (tinha feito uma saia aqui) /  Let's dress her! I used some leftovers from little Papgena's dress (I did a skirt here)

 

Eu adorei o resultado e acho que ela também gostou!

(e claro que a pequena Papgena também quer uma para ela).

I loved the result and I think she liked it too!

(obviously little Papgena wants one for herself too).

CU-Cu!!! / Hello!!!!

Olá!!!! Tá aí alguém????

É verdade, ainda estou por cá!!!

Tenho tanta coisa que gostava de partilhar mas, a verdade é que ainda não encontrei o meu ritmo!

Hello!! Someone’s there!!!

Yes, I’m still around here!

I have so much to share but the truth is, I still have not found my rhythm!

Fazendo um apanhado dos últimos dois meses (DOIS!! parece impossível!!), já voltei ao trabalho e o pequeno panda já frequenta a creche!
Conciliar o trabalho a tempo inteiro (mesmo tendo as duas horas para amamentação), com os dois miúdos, a casa e tudo o resto não tem sido fácil! Ainda estou em adaptação!
A verdade é que á noite, que seria o tempito que teria para mim, quando finalmente todos estão acomodados…eu adormeço!!!
So, in these last TWO months (how can it be???) I return to my full time job and little panda is now in day care during the day!
Managing the full time job (even with the 2 hours leave for breast-feeding), the 2 kids, the house and everything else it’s not being easy! I’m stil adjust!
At night, when everybody is in bed that would be my ‘me time’, most of the days….I fall asleep too!!!

Faz 7 meses no dia 31!!! 63 cm e 7,250 kg no final de Junho, agora já é mais de certeza! Continua a ser um bebé calminho que GOSTA de dormir! (tão diferente da pequena Papgena).

Mas também é um comilãozito, porque apesar de já comer papa e sopa ainda quer mamar umas 4 a 5 vezes por dia!

Little Panda will be 7 months next 31th!!! 

In the end of June he was 63 cm length and 7,250 kg weight but, he’s bigger now!

He’s still a calm and happy baby who LIKES to sleep!! (so different from his sister, thank god!!!). 

He likes to eat too! He already eats soup and pap but he still wants his milk 4 or 5 times a day!

A minha filhota fez 6 anos (!!!!!).

Little papgena’s birthday was in June. She is now 6 years old!!!

That cannot be right! I’m pretty sure she was a tiny baby just yesterday!!

Teve a festa de fim de ano no Jardim-de-Infância; em setembro estará na escola primária!!!

In the kindergarten there was a huge party to celebrate all the ‘finalists’ that will be in school this Setember! There was a lot of joy but so many tears too!! Say goodbye is SO dificult!!!

Tenho feito bastantes coisas e continuo a tirar fotografias (na maior parte das vezes, pelo menos) mas, ainda não consegui estabelecer uma rotina para escrever e publicar os posts!

Por isso, deixo-vos fotografias variadas, para vos atiçar a curiosidade com a promessa de que hei-de conseguir sentar-me e falar de todas elas, não posso é prometer quando!!!
