Todo este trabalho me tinha trazido ao ponto de estar pronta para a parte final do trabalho, o que definiria o meu ouriço: a camada de espinhos.
Porém, faltavam 24 horas para a minha data limite!
E ontem foi um dia muito complicado porque não me sentia nada bem, com principios de gripe!
As instruções diziam: “using brown yarn, join yarn at a sc on bottom of back of body. Get ready; this takes forever! I worked in rows all over the back and on top of the head as follows: *ch 3, sk 2 sc, sc 1, rep from *. (e a montagem das patas só depois de fazer os espinhos, ups! A distracção outra vez!)
Bom, se o resto tinha sido dificil, o que dizer da carapaça dos espinhos?
Tentei e voltei a tentar mas, simplesmente não consegui perceber as instruções!
Por momentos, estive tentada a desistir! Considerei sériamente essa possibilidade: pegava no boneco que tinha e embelezava-o para a ocasião e pronto. Acabava-se o drama e o pesadelo (afinal quem o ia receber não sabia da intenção de fazer o ouriço, certo?)
Estive mesmo, mesmo, mesmo, mesmo, tentada!!
Mas, depois pensei que isso era batota e que eu saberia que tinha feito batota!!!
Além de que seria perseguida, para o resto dos meus dias, por este ouriço que não tinha acabado!
Não podia ser!
Respirei fundo, peguei na agulha e...improvisei!!!!
Primeiro fiz carreiras em ponto baixo, do fundo até ao topo, depois no sentido inverso fiz ponto alto. A seguir voltei ao topo fazendo um pequeno picotado (uma corrente de três, finalizada com um ponto baixissimo no primeiro ponto, dois pontos baixissimos e a seguir uma corrente de três e assim sucessivamente). Bom, honestamente parecia que nunca mais acabava!!! Foi dificil até porque o boneco já estava ‘recheado’ e a agulha trazia partes do recheio que se misturava com a linha e criava nós....um pesadelo!!!!!
Mas...acabei! E eis o resultado!!!!
I was ready to begin the final part of the work, which would define my hedgehog: a layer of thorns.
But, I only had 24 hours! And yesterday I was not too well, with flu.
The directions stand: “using brown yarn, join yarn at a sc on bottom of back of body. Get ready; this takes forever! I worked in rows all over the back and on top of the head as follows: *ch 3, sk 2 sc, sc 1, rep from *. (and the assembly of the legs only after making the thorns! ups! I did it again!)
Well, if the rest had been difficult, what to say about this part?
I tried and tried and tried but just could not understand the instructions!
For a moment I was tempted to give up!
I seriously considered this possibility: picked up the doll and had it embellished to the occasion. That way the drama and nightmare would end (after al,l who would receive it didn’t know the intention of making the hedgehog, right?)
I really, really, really, really, was attempted!
But then I thought that was cheating and I would know I had cheated! Besides, that hedghog would be pursued me for the rest of my days!
Could not be!
I take a deep breath, picked up the needle and…improvised!!
First I made rows in single crochet from the bottom to the top, than in the opposite direction I did in double crochet. Then I went back to the top by making a chain of three, finished with single stitch at the first point, two single stitches and then a chain of three and so on.
Well, I can honestly say that it seemed that would not end!
It was hard also because the doll was already stuffed and the needle brought parts of filling that mixed with the line and created knots…a nightmare!!!!!
But ...I finished it! And here's the result:

Ok, o original é lindo, eu sei, apaixonei-me por ele, lembram-se?Mas o meu....o meu é o fruto do meu ‘sangue, suor e lágrimas’ e eu adoro-o!!!! :)
E agora vou voltar a ter um projecto em mãos: o próximo são ovos, para Abril.
Parecem ser muito simples de fazer e desconfio de que deveria ter começado por eles!!! (mas depois digo-vos!)
Ah! E ainda tenho uma cabeça! Metade de um urso já está feito!!!! ;)
Ok, the original is beautiful, I know, I fell in love with him, remember?
But mine...mine is from my 'blood, sweat and tears' and I love it!! :)
And now I have another project in hands: eggs! To be finished in April.
They seem to be very simple to do and I suspect that I should have started with them! (but I keep you posted!)
Ah! And I still have a head! Half of a bear is already done!! ;)
