Algo para o Pequeno Panda / Something for Little Panda

P1020446
If you have been follow this blog, I’m sure you wondered why I have not done anything for little Panda. Well, there are two reasons: first, the pregnancy was so troubled that, for a long time, I was not sure there would be a little Panda so, I didn’t do a single thing for the baby, during the all time of the pregnancy (unlike what happened when I was pregnant of my daughter)
Triste
On the other, little Panda is a very lucky baby and inherited lots of stuff!

In these images, the carrycot was little Papgena’s (and my nephews also used it), the bed sheet was mine and my daughter’s and the white wool afghan, was made by my mother for me, then it was my brother’s, next little Papgena’s and now is little Panda’s.
The stuffed animals are little Panda’s; were bought by his sister!

A fita, originalmente, era cor-de-rosa, eu substitui-a por uma azul:
The ribbon, originally, was pink, I replaced it by a blue one:

This afghan was my husband’s, made by his mother:

E este casaco também foi dele:
And this coat was also his:

He also inherited all his cousins’ clothing and all, that isn’t girly, from little Papgena’s. And a friend of mine, who has two boys, lent us a lot of things too!
But, there are things he needs anyway, and here's a project already cut and that I have to sew (I will show it when it’s ready).

The fabric’s theme is Noah's ark (but is not related to this):

In August I had seen this idea, which I thought was fantastic, and so, with two fabric’s scraps and four different ones I stepped forward!
(Besides, I realize that making toys makes me happy!)

Lado Esquerdo: Cortei 3 quadradinhos do tecido e cozi-os  como se fossem remendos / I sew 3 little squares in the blue fabric as patchs
Irina’s tutorial is great so, I'll just point out what I did differently. I sew some jumbo white ric-rac to pretend the waves;  put some velcro and sew a felt 'anchor' with a ribbon attached so it can be pulled (the anchor is inspired by the letter V, the initial of little panda’s name). I put a flag on the top of the mast and three ribbons in the middle (but I think the ribbons on the side, as Irina did, result best).

On the other side, I also sew three ribbons at the top of the mast, I sew a yellow ribbon and some velcro in the middle.
When I was filling the boat I put a plastic ball, fill with rice, inside:

Finally, I sew a small stuffed lion (from IKEA) to the yellow ribbon:

 I also topstitch the edge but I'm not sure it works, what do you think?

  3. Lovely stuff you have for you Panda. It's pity hiw parents throw money on expensive clothes and the children outgrow them almost immediately.
I expect to see many wonderful things you are going to sew for your son!

    1. Thanks!
We are a familly of keepers, especially the women! :D I drive my husband nuts because of that! I'm allways saying 'that will be useful', 'that will be useful' and so on! But it's fun that the son is able to wear something that belonged to his dad! (but, again, I think this is a woman thing!)

  7. that's really cute, I'm pretty sure the baby loves it, with the little rattle sound inside. I love the way you sewed the ric-rac to make it look like waves.
