WIP

Ontem, a "iquantacores", no "the crafty forum", iniciou um post sobre WIP (work in progress, isto é, trabalho que estamos a desenvolver).
Achei piada à ideia e coloquei a mantinha, em quilting, que estou a fazer para a cachopa.
Só pus uma fotografia do plano geral. No entanto, acho que vale a pena contar a história da manta e pôr mais fotografias.
Tudo começou, no ano passado quando descobri a arte do quilting e do patchwork. Já tinha ouvido falar mas, nunca tinha pesquisado ou tentado.
Comecei pela net e depois comprei este livro “The Encyclopedia of Quilting and Patchwork Techniques” de Katharine Guerrier (estão a ver a Hermione, a amiga do Harry Potter, que sempre que tem uma dificuldade corre para a biblioteca? Bom, sou eu sem tirar nem pôr!!!). O livro é muito bom porque mostra desde o básico até obras-primas complexas. Fiquei mesmo fascinada e com vontade de tentar!!
A minha sogra tinha encontrado (no sotão mais uma vez!) retalhos grandes de um tecido rosa, um tecido amarelo e um tecido lilás. Mas, foi só ao ver este tecido num leilão da "Katmunster" no "fórum missangarte" que me ocorreu o que ia fazer!

I decided to contribute with a photo of the quilting I am doing for little papgena’s bed. I post the picture of the overall plan. However, I think it's worth telling the story of the blanket and show more photos.
All started last year, when I discovered the art of quilting and patchwork. I had heard about it but had never researched or tried.
I started in the net and then bought this book “The Encyclopedia of Quilting and Patchwork Techniques” de Katharine Guerrier (do you know Hermione, Harry Potter’s friend? She runs to library every time she has a problem to solve. Well, that’s me exactly!!). The book is awesome because show a big range of works, since the easiest to really complex pieces, works of art, actually. I was really fascinated and eager to try!
My mother-in law had found (in her attic, again!) large patches of a rose fabric, a yellow fabric and a purple fabric. But, it was only when I saw this fabric, in an "Katmunster"’s auction on "fórum missangarte", that decided what I would do!

As cortinas de verão, do quarto da pequena papgena, têm gatos.
A miúda mudou da cama de grades para a cama individual, em Abril do ano passado. Na altura, é que dei conta que não tinha uma mantinha para lhe pôr (só tenho edredões de inverno). Por isso, em vez de comprar já feito, resolvi que iria juntar 2 em 1, a minha primeira tentativa de quilting e fazer uma manta de verão a condizer com os cortinados.
My little papgena’s summer’s curtains have cats.
She moved from crib to bed, in April last year, when I realized that I didn’t have a summer quilt (I only have winter quilts). So, instead of buying something already made, I decided to do my first attempt at quilting, making a summer one to match the curtains.
Cortei:
15 quadrados rosa de 31 cm x 31 cm (1 cm para a costura)
I Cut:
15 squares of 31 cm x 31 cm of the rose fabric (1 cm for the seam allowance)














44 quadrados amarelos de 11 cm x 11 cm (1 cm para a costura)
44 of 11 cm x 11 cm squares of the yellow fabric (1 cm for the seam allowance)














e 30 quadrados de gatinhos de 11 cm x 11 cm (1 cm para a costura)
and 30 squares of 11 cm x 11 of the kittens’ fabric (1 cm for the seam allowance)














O tecido lilás será para a parte de trás. Não é a minha cor favorita mas acho que combina bem com as outras cores, tem um trabalhado muito bonito e no conjunto a manta ficará muito alegre.
The purple fabric will be for the back. Not my favourite colour but, I think it blends well with the others, has a nice work and altogether it will be a cheer and colourful blanket.



























Ainda não decidi qual o material que vou pôr entre as duas camadas mas, uma coisa de cada vez! Lá chegarei, espero!
Se tudo sair certinho, a manta ficará com um comprimento de 190 cm por 110 cm de largura (a cama tem 160 cm de comprimento e 88 cm de largura).
I haven’t decided yet what I will use to the wadding but, one step at a time! I’ll figure out when the time comes!
If all goes well the blanket will be 190 cm length by 110 cm wide (the bed is 160 cm long and 88 cm wide).
Eis aqui as 2 primeiras carreiras alinhavadas.

O esquema que imaginei é que a manta terá mais 3 conjuntos completos destas carreiras e mais um, só da primeira carreira.
Também vai servir para eu treinar costura à máquina. É que estou habituada a cozer à mão e gostaria de me sentir á vontade a cozer à máquina.
O ideal seria que a mantinha estivesse pronta em Maio, a ver vamos se consigo cumprir!!!
The scheme will have more 3 complete rows like those one plus one of the first row.
It will also serve to practice my sewing by machine. I'm more ease to sew by hand.
Ideally, it will be ready in May, let’s see if I can accomplished that!
