É tarde demais… /Is it to late…

 …para falar do Natal?
….to talk about Christmas?

Acho que deveria mudar o nome deste blog para qualquer coisa do tipo:

blog-para-quem-quer-pensar-em-coisas-que-vão-voltar-a-acontecer-daí-a-12-meses

porque, não há uma vez que eu consiga postar a par da época. Portanto, hoje falo do Natal, e porque não? Daqui a 10 meses vai ser um tema candente!

Comentei aqui, que pretendia decorar 4 camisolas iguais para o Natal e é com muito gosto que informo que consegui!

(bem…quase! A minha, ainda falta cozer as aplicações mas, daqui a 10 meses tenho confiança que já tenho a camisola pronta!).

Esta foto foi tirada em casa dos meus pais, no dia 25/12; o pequeno panda estava vestido de rena mas, sem disposição nenhuma para fotos. Quanto às camisolas, fiz um cordão, com o tricotin, num amarelo torrado, e cozi-o, em espiral depois, no topo, apliquei uma estrela em feltro / this photo was taken in my parent's house, last December 25th; little panda was dress as a reindeer but not in the mood for pictures. As to the sweaters, I did a dark yellow cord, with the tricotin, and sew it to the sweater, in a spiral, on the top I sew a yellow felt star.

I think I should rename this blog for something like:

blog-to-people-who-want-to-think-in-things-that-go-back-to-happen-in-the-next-12-months

because my posts are never published in the right time!

So, today, I speak of Christmas, and why not? In 10 months time it will be a hot topic!

I commented here, that I intended to decorate 4 sweaters for Christmas and I’m very pleased to inform you that I really did it!

(well ... almost! I still have to sew the applications on mine BUT in 10 months I’m very confident that I’ll made it!)

Aqui está o pequeno Panda, também em casa dos meus pais, no dia 25 com a camisola dele, como está sentado não dá para ver bem a espiral mas percebe-se o cordão e a estrela (espero eu) / here is little Panda and his sweater, in my parent's house, on December 25th, I hope that the yellow cord and the felt star are perceptible.

Atrasada, não queria deixar de enviar a todos, os nossos votos de Boas Festas!

A pequena Papgena e o pequeno Panda, adoraram posar para as fotos e espalhar alegria neste Natal. O novo membro da família (Dominó, de seu nome, entrou de rompante na nossa vida, quando o Papageno o atropelou! ) foi obrigado a participar!

Na próxima segunda-feira, o pequeno Panda fará 1 ano! Parece impossível!

Um bom ano de 2013 para todos, que não seja tão mau como o andam a pintar!

Little Papgena and little Panda enjoy our photo session and the new family member (Domino its name, burst in our lives when Papageno hit it with the car, poor thing) was forced to participate!
Next Monday little Panda will be 1 year old! It’s seems impossible, where these 12 months went?!

Última prenda de Natal / Last Christmas Gift

Tinha-me esquecido completamente de mostrar as 2 últimas prendas de Natal!
É que, nas últimas 2 ou 3 semanas tenho andado tão frustrada...nada me sai das mãos!!
Não consigo acabar nada, ou emperro por falta de ideias, ou faço e desfaço porque não me sai bem ou...não tenho mesmo tempo para pegar em nada! Resultado...este blog tem estado parado! Lamento...espero que o enguiço passe e consiga ser mais produtiva (até a bem da minha sanidade mental!!)
Sem mais demora: O G. e o M., os meninos do post anterior têm cada um o seu mano mais novo o A. e o P., mais ou menos com quase dois anos, e para os quais eu não tinha mesmo ideia nenhuma mas, eis que a uma semana do Natal a Mrs. Muffin postou este tutorial e resolveu-me um problema:

I completely forgot to show you my last handmade Christmas gift!!

This last 2 or 3 weeks have been so stressful: I cannot seem to be able to finish something!
Or I stuck with no ideas, or I do and have to undo because it’s not right or…I just don’t have the time to seat and finish something, anything!!! So, this blog is being on hold!
I’m very sorry!
Hopefully this strange mood will soon pass and I’ll be able to finish and show something!
(but I, really want to finish something or else I’ll be crazy very soon!!
So, back to this post issue: G. and M., the two little boys from the previous post, have, both, two younger brothers A. and P., who are almost 2 years old. For them, I didn’t have any idea whatsoever until I saw this tutorial, one week before Christmas, from Mrs Muffin and then I was back in business!

O tutorial dela é muito bom por isso, só vou dizer o que fiz diferente: o formato das minhas árvores, como podem constatar, são diferentes e nas costas cozi as iniciais de cada um, num tecido contrastante:

Her tutorial is very good so I’ll only add what I did different: my trees’ shapes are different and in the back I sew their initials in a stripe fabric.

Na frente cozi um lacinho com fita vermelha e na estrela e em duas das ‘bolas’ pus um guizo dentro com o recheio.
I also sew a little red ribbon in the front; in the star and in two balls I put inside a little bell when I stufed them.

E já está!

Numa tentativa de me organizar criei uma caixa para ir colocando as ideias para as próximas prendas de Natal e/ou outras que for fazendo durante este ano. Há dois bebés da família que, no final do ano, irão estar quase com um ano por isso na caixa já estão cortadas as formas para dois pinheiros, duas estrelas e algumas bolas!

I'm trying to organize myself and I like this idea so much that I put aside, in a box, everything I need to make two other christmas trees. In the end of this year, two babies of our family will be almost an year and I think it's the perfect gift! This way I have a early start. I'll try to keep up the rest of the year!

Almofadas / Pillows

Para o G. e para o M., dois rapazinhos de 4 e 3 anos, respectivamente, resolvi fazer uma almofada.
Tinha comprado, há algum tempo, na ‘Feira dos Tecidos’ um retalho com um motivo da arca de Noé, porque me apaixonei à primeira vista! Era tão alegre que só de olhar me fazia sorrir. Quando o comprei não tinha qualquer ideia do que ia fazer mas, um dia estava a olhar para ele e reparei que conseguia cortá-lo de forma a obter 3 imagens completas de cerca de 60 cm * 60 cm:
For G. and M., two little boys of 4 and 3 years, respectively, I decided to make a cushion.
I had bought, some time ago, in ‘Feira dos Tecidos' (a Portuguese shop that sells fabrics) a fabric with a Noah's ark theme, because I fell in love at first sight! It was so happy that made me smile every time I look to it. When I bought it, I had no idea what was I going to do with it but, one day I was looking at it and I noticed that I could cut it in order to get 3 full images of approximately 60 cm * 60 cm:

Bom, quando vi os quadrados, nasceu a ideia das almofadas!
Para as costas das almofadas escolhi um tecido de quadradinhos azuis e um de cor-de-rosa (claro que também tinha que fazer uma para a pequena Papgena):

For the back I choose a blue squares fabric and a pink fabric one (I had to do one to little Papgena didn’t I?):

Como tinha os restos do tecido lembrei-me de cortar quadrados de 6 cm, com os animais no meio, e fazer um patchwork fingido:
As I had the remains of the fabric, I remembered to cut squares of 6 cm, with the animals in the middle, and make a kind of patchwork:

Conseguem ver os riscos que traçam os quadrados? Do you see the squares' drawing?

(digo-vos que descobri porque é que a Care tem a obsessão dos I-spy squares! È que foi mesmo giro estar a cortar aqueles quadradinhos pequenos!!!).
(I discovered why Care is so obsess with I-spy squares! It was really fun cutting all those small squares!!!).

Dispus os quadrados no tecido de forma a formar a inicial do nome de cada um, enchi a almofada e fechei-a com uma fita de viés (azul para os meninos, cor-de-rosa para a menina). Lindas! E prontinhas para divertir aconchegar e jogar ao Eu Vi!
I set the squares on the fabric so as to form the initial of the name of each one, filled the pillow and closed it with a bias tape (blue for boys, pink for the girl). Beautiful! And ready to snuggle and to play I-spy!

Contras do projecto:
O irmão mais novo do M., o P. de 2 anos, adorou a almofada do irmão e a mãe pediu-me uma almofada igual para ele. Na ‘Feira dos Tecidos’ de Braga já não há e na da Rua Cedofeita, no Porto, também não!

Na de Cedofeita, foram muito simpáticos e andam a tentar encontrar nas outras lojas do país mas ainda não conseguiram.
Por isso, se alguém vir este tecido, numa loja física ou on-line, avisam-me?
O P. está à espera de uma almofada….
Cons of the project:
The younger brother of M., P. of 2 years, loved his brother’s pillow so their mother asked me a similar cushion for him. The shop, in Braga, doesn’t have that fabric anymore and the one in Cedofeita Street, Porto, doesn’t have it too!
In Cedofeita’s shop were very friendly and they are trying to find it in other stores, in the country, but no luck yet.
So, if anyone sees this fabric (or another similar), in a physical store or online, could you please let me know?

Placa para porta / Bedroom Sign

Para a Catarina, uma bébe de 4 meses, resolvi fazer uma placa para pendurar na porta do quarto.

Bordei a ursinha, em ponto de cruz e depois tornei-a tridimensional:

I embroidered the little girl bear in cross stitch and turn it in three-dimensional:

Em seguida criei uma nuvem branca, em tecido, que depois colei sobre camadas de papel musgami de diferentes tons de cor-de-rosa (com a tesoura fui-lhes dando as formas arredondadas). Por baixo de todas essas camadas colei um cartão forte para dar estrutura. Também pensei bordar os balões em ponto de cruz mas, como estava a ficar sem tempo (acabei esta prenda às 4 da manhã de Domingo :P) criei-os em feltro cor-de-rosa e acho que resultam bem!
I created a white cloud with fabric and then pasted it on paper musgami layers of different shades of rose-colored (with scissors was giving them a more rounded shape). Beneath all these layers glued a strong card to give structure. I also thought in embroidery the balloons  in cross stitch, but as time was running out (I just finished it at 4 am Sunday :P) I created them in pink felt and I think it work well!!!

Também acho que seria engraçado experimentar, colar a ursinha e os balões numa moldura de fotografias...Acho que também resultaria!

Chá? / Tea?

Como já tinha contado, a semana passada, andei a trabalhar em seis prendas de Natal que foram entregues este fim-de-semana. Esta, foi a primeira que comecei (aqui), um serviço de chá em crochet para a Rita, de quase dois anos.
As I told before, I was working in six Christmas gifts that were deliver this weekend. This, was the first I began  (here), a tea set for Rita, an almost two years old little girl.

Presépio / Nativity Scene

A Elizabeth do blog Twelve Crafts to Christmas, está a emitir uma série de posts sobre tradições de Natal (ou de outras festividades) e convidou os seus leitores a partilharem as suas tradições.

Eu adorei a ideia! Mas, ao principio, não sabia do que gostaria de falar. Uma parte importante das nossas tradições andam á volta de comida mas, não é própriamente um assunto em que eu me sinta á vontade!

No entanto lembrei-me de uma coisa que eu adoro fazer no Natal: enfeitar a àrvore e montar o presépio!

Normalmente faço isso no dia 1 de Dezembro, aproveitando que é feriado e o começo do mês, ao mesmo tempo que ouço e canto (mas não encanto) cânticos de Natal (Papageno não me deixa fazer mais cedo, diz que é suficiente um mês e meio de festividades); só os desmonto no primeiro fim-de-semana a seguir aos Reis.

I loved the idea!
But at first did not know what I would say. An important part of our traditions revolve around food, but is not exactly a subject that I feel at ease!
Suddenly I remembered something I love to do on Christmas: decorating the tree and set up the nativity scene!
I usually do it on Dec. 1, as it’s a holiday (we celebrate the revolution of 1640 that restored our independence, separating us, definitely, from Spain) and the beginning of the month, while I hear and sing Christmas carols (Papageno not let me do it earlier! He says that one and half months of festivities is enough!), and only dismount at the end of the first weekend after the Magi day (January sixth):

Quanto à arvore, como é mais conhecida e global não vou falar, quero mesmo é falar do Presépio:

I want to talk about the Nativity scene (the tree is just well known!):

Este é o presépio que eu fazia em casa dos meus avós paternos por isso, já tem bem mais de 40 anos, porque exisita já antes de eu existir. Quando o herdei, não tinha este aspecto, porque já acusava os anos, tive que retocar a casinha, as partes de musgo já quase que não existiam e colar as palhas do telhado. Também tive que tornar a pintar todas as imagens (tinham bastantes esbotinadelas).

This is the nativity scene I used to make at my grandparents’ home so it already has well over 40 years, because already existed before me. When I inherited, had not this looks, because it accused the years, I had to glue pieces of moss that almost did not exist and paste the thatch roof. I also had to paint all the images.

Quando era criança eu, os meus primos e o meu irmão, colocávamos o presépio no chão e montavamos tudo direitinho: galo no telhado, a sagrada familia no sitio devido, com o menino jesus na manjedoura, os animais á volta para o aquecerem, os reis Magos em fila para o verem e os pastores atrás dos animais. Mas depois de o montarmos todo direitinho, bricávamos ‘às casinhas’ com ele. Fazíamos filas com os bonecos, ponhamos o menino jesus a ter aventuras, a portar-se mal e a ser chamado á atenção pelos pais, a cuidar dos animais, etc. Exactamente como se fosse uma casinha de bonecas!

E sabem o que é engraçado? A pequena Papgena faz exactamente o mesmo!

No primeiro ano que o fiz na minha casa pu-lo em cima de uma cesta, virada ao contrário, uma vez que a minha tartaruga andava muitas vezes à solta pela casa (agora já não faço isso, por causa da miúda).

No primeiro Natal da pequena Papgena, pusemo-lo em cima do aparador da sala, uma vez que ela tinha 6 meses. Desde o segundo Natal da cachopa, que o montamos na lareira:

When I was a kid, me, my cousins and my brother, we put the nativity scene on the floor and put everything right: rooster on the roof, the holy family and baby Jesus in the manger, the animals all around them, the Magi in line to see him and the pastors behind the animals. But after we set up the entire scene right, we started to play like it was a play dollhouse, we would put the images on a queue, we put the baby Jesus to have adventures, to misbehave and will be called attention by his parents, to care for animals, etc..

Exactly like a dollhouse!

And you know what's funny? Little Papgena does exactly the same!

The first year that I mounted it in my house, I put it on top of a basket, turned upside down, since my turtle often rode on the loose in the house (now no longer do so, because of the kid).

On the first little Papgena’s Christmas,  we put it on top of the sideboard in the room, since she was 6 months. Since her second Christmas we put it here:

Desmontei um saco de prendas preto com estrelas e colei-o na parede de trás da lareira. Forrei o chão com papel verde para dar a ideia de vegetação.

I dismantled a black gift bag with stars and pasted it on the wall behind the fireplace. I lined the floor with green paper to give an idea of vegetation.

No ano passado encontrei estas casinhas de louça, em que se colocam umas lâmpadas lá dentro para parecer que as janelas estão iluminadas. Coloco-as em semi-circulo para dar a ideia de um agrupamento habitacional.
Last year I found these little houses made of earthenware, which put some lights inside to look like the windows are lighted. I put them in a semi-circle to give the idea of a small village.

Compramos mais animais, em plástico por causa da miúda mas, a minha ideia é, este ano, levá-la á feira e comprá-los em louça para que fique tudo a condizer:

We buy more animals, in plastic because of the kid, but my idea is, this year, will take her to the public market and buy them in china so everything will match:
